Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent forage or feed supplement I love these pellets. My horses eat them well and look great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Weight success I tried this instead of just alfalfa pellets to see if it would help my mare, who always drops weight in the winter, maintain her weight. It has worked like a charm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for horses Great for supplementing quality forage in the winter. My horse dropped some weight and this seemed to solve the problem within just few weeks. Unfortunately it's made us have work harder & build separate pens to feed because our poultry-which showed no interested in regular alfalfa- have fell in love with the feed and do all the can to try gobble it all up! Also love this for stalled horses because they eat it nice and slow like cubes but it's way easier for older horses to eat.

Is the 2% of body wieght calculation converted into pounds? If so that would mean a 1300lb horse would get 26lbs of feed per day? That doesn't sound correct. Can you clarify the amount recommened to a horse on a moderate work schedule?

Asked by: Bombi Ann
Here is the manufacturer's response: Yes this calculation is correct. That amount of feed equals the total amount for the animal per day. Usually the owner will split the total amount between the morning and evening feedings.

What percentage of this pellet is alfalfa and what percentage of it is corn? Is the sorgham ingredient grain sorgham or hay and what percentage if it is grain? Is this a complete feed or do you need to feed hay too?

Asked by: Smoothie1
The percentage is 15% corn and 85% alfalfa. The sorghum ingredient is hay and it can be used as a complete feed.

Trying to figure out how this compares to other feed ration recommendations. Is this meant to be fed in larger quantities? Our Purina recommends feeding 5-6lbs per day for a 1000lb horse. Your recommendation is 2% of the body weight.

Asked by: Concrete Cowgirl
Yes, that is correct. Our feed is strictly forage, with the addition of cracked corn.
