So far it is holding up well

I considered building a dog house, but realized it was going to cost me quite a bit more than this one, and I wanted the insulated and heated features, so this seemed like a good buy. The price is great and the overall construciton is decent. The 2 piece roof needed some extra screws and board to hold it together well. The acutal house seems fairly well thought out. However, the interior with insulation and heating pad is really only going to hold up if your dog does not chew and pull at soft puffy stuff. The bottom mat that would cover the heating pad was pulled out and chewed up within 2 days. The interior insulation was going to be next, so I removed it, and thankfully I hadn't installed the heating pad or it would have been shredded too. I am installing hard foam insulation on the roof and floor and stapling down the side insulation to make it more suitable. Overall, with some modifications it is a decent house. Pros: - Metal Framework so wood pieces are not exposed to chewing. - Hinged roof is nice for accessing interior. - Heating pad and insulation (if you can secure it properly for an active dog) - Low price for size of dog house. Cons: - Velcro strips for holding insulation in, not suitable for active dog. - No way to secure heating pad, could easily be pulled up by dog. - 2 piece roof joining piece was designed to screw in on only one side with 3 screws, needs double that, and ideally a wider board to actually hold together
