I bought this for my great dane as I wanted an elevated feeder that would match the rest of the house, and something that would store food at the same time. This is a great size for most large dogs - a tad small for mine but it will still work and XL feeders that fit all of the criteria are going to be impossible to find if not custom made. The storage area holds about 3/4 of my large bag of ProPlan Giant Breed so I'd say it probably holds a 30/35lb bag of dry food perfectly. I love that there is an area under the bowls to catch food and water so it won't drip into the food storage- a nice detail that was though out by the manufacturer. For anybody on the hunt for a good looking, practical feeder I 100% recommend this!
