Q: I received my Dog Palace this morning and put it together this afternoon. It took me several hours to put it together. The reason is tighter fitting and lots of patience required?

1 Answer
  • Dog Palace Expert
A: The Dog Palace is designed with a tight-fitting tongue-and-groove system for durability and insulation. Assembly may require backing it against a solid wall for leverage when fitting the front panel and slightly lifting the roof as you slide it into place. We appreciate your patience and hope your dog enjoys their new home!

Q: Can the entire door be removed? I do not understand by looking at the picture how a dog gets inside the dog house. Does the dog have to step up and over to get inside? Also can I paint it? It is for a covered front porch which is gray and white.

  • Dog Palace Expert
A: The door can be removed. It is held in place by two plastic nubs about the size of your thumbnail. Just use a flat screwdriver to pry one end out. Yes, the dog just steps into the house. The house is mad of LLDPE plastic.

Q: I have one of the old model's and the insulation settled in the walls, does the new model's have true solid foam in the walls and ceiling as to not let the insulation settle down causing the house too stay cold.

1 Answer
  • Dog Palace Expert
A: We use vacuum packed nontoxic Styro/Eps foam insulation in our houses. If you have an older house, it may have the appearance of settling from the plastic expanding over time due to being continually exposed to heat making the walls slightly wider and the gap between the panels slightly bigger. We have added ribbing to the walls that should make this less likely to happen in our newer models.. You can reverse this “settling” in older houses by inverting the house during the day and gently taping the sides then flip it back over during the night. You can read more about this process and our foam in our blog post "Much Ado About foam" http://asldoghouses.blogspot.com/2020/09/much-ado-about-foam.html

Good construction but tricky for the assembly!!

My dog is still trying to figure out the 2 part swinging door. I took the bottom half door off and my dog was using the dog house everyday. But when I put the bottom section back on the door, the dog wont use the door. The assembly was a little tricky. The panels have a groove and should fit together with a notch end of one panel sliding into a recessed groove on another panel. I had to use a couple of ratchet straps to squeeze it together and force the panels into their grooves. I then installed the included screws to hold the dog house together.
