This is a great high-powered lawnmower whose frame is made of metal. This is so important as it helps with vibration and machine sturdiness. Many other makes and models have plastic frames which leads to alot of shaking, but not with Yardmax 22in. 201cc !!

A product marketed as a lawnmower mow the lawn.

Shame on Yardmax for making this and shame on tractor supply for selling it. This product looks like a regular lawnmower but it would be the worst, most ineffective, and difficult to use mower I've ever laid eyes on. So far I got half a season out of it, repairing and adjusting it literally every time the lawn needed to be mowed, then it threw the drive axle from the retainers and separated itself into several pieces. After weeks of back and forth with customer service, they sent a heap of parts on warranty. Now I've carefully re-assembled the mower and the self propulsion does not engage with any amount of adjustment. Meanwhile, I've refurbished the old mower that this was intended to replace (operated for 12 years and cost 1/3 of what this one did) and have no choice but to continue mowing with the old one with no hope of the yardmax ever operating correctly. Spare yourself the aggravation and steer clear of these awful units.

Not user friendly

The mower takes at least 5 pulls to get it to start, when using self propelled, I can let up on the self propelled to make a turn it goes at least 12-18” before it stops, I have ran it threw my flower bed, up a fence etc, maybe it’s too much for what I use it for which is 2 small lots that have raised gardens and an above ground pool, I wish I could trade it for another one easier to use

Only issue found thus far, handle width/distance is too narrow. Removing a heavy/full bag of grass is difficult. Problematic maneuvering in & out of the handle space, too tight.

Easy to assemble and mower worked perfectly right out of the box without any other fine tuning or adjustment. The mulching feature works well and provides a clean cut, but I haven't tried the bagger or side chute and likely won't based on previous usage. The 6-position speed control seems to be a positive game changer especially on hilly terrain. The single-lever height adjustment and collapsable handlebars for compact storage are thoughtful features too.

Yardmax walk behind lawn mower.

The more I use the Yardmax, I get use to the rear wheel Drive. The only problem I have encountered is the mower deck keeps bottoming out at my lawn hight. I have had to increase the lawn hight to solve that problem.
All in all I would recommend the YardMax to anyone. It is well constructed and has plenty of power for the average lawn.

Great looking. But the knob and pin that hold the push handle together was stripped. Item 10 and 26 on parts list. Also the throttle control for speed (walking) does not move. Bought replacement parts at another hardware store. And I will just walk slowly.

This mower does a great job going through tall, thick grass. It mulches really good, and is easy to start. The only thing I marked it down for was that it gets stuck too often on bumpy ground. I purchased this because it is a Consumer Reports best buy.

Drive different than front wheel.

Good Machine thus far. Haven't used above level one, and I was use to the front wheel drive. This means that I would lift the front to change directions, which makes this machine move faster. I am adapting!

I have used this mower 3 times now. It starts on the 2nd pull. It has plenty of power and the adjustable speed is nice for different type of terrain. It is heavy and the wheels grip well. Though, my wife would have a very hard time with any tight mowing around trees or obstacles in the yard, except for straight line mowing.

I purchased the Yardmax mower after reviewing other websites. I have had Toro, Snapper,Craftsman mowers before and this Yardmax has been excellent. It starts first pull, has a broad range of walking speeds and picks up grass extremely well. I use the mower for home use only but I highly recommend this mower.

Only buy if your lawn it grade level and doesn't get more than 1 inch thick of grass - Motor seems to handle cutting but the wheels will just spin and any amount of unlevel ground will make it come to a complete stop. Would not recommend unless your lawn is perfectly level

This product has a lot of downsides. You just can’t go by lawnmower blades and put on the holes that are in the shaft make it hard for you to interchange blades from what your local stores carry and also the bagging system is too big to fit between the bars, it catches on all the cables. The transmission is not reliable. It doesn’t matter what gear you put it in once your bag stretches the cable it just stays in one speed. There is a lot of issues with this mower and I would not recommend it to anyone one lever to adjust all the wheels is not that good either The front two wheels seem to float and it does catch in the grass, causing it to get hooked up in the rear tires dig into the ground. The only thing good about this mower that I have seen so far is the powerful engine and it seems to start on the first pole every time. I will never buy another one. You also have to order the blades from yard max which takes up to three weeks to get and they are way too expensive. The metal is so cheap. If you hit one pinecone you might as well plan on buying another set of blades
