Self Propel didn't work unless mower was on flat level concrete. Returned after 1 use.

Things are already breaking and we haven't even had it for 90 days these types of issues should not be happening with normal mowing

A friend of mine gave me a used version of the same identical mower as this that I used for several years and when the motor finally gave up the ghost I had to buy another. I love the personal pace feature of this mower.

Not much traction ended up pushing it a lot better tires might help and it cuts low even at the highest setting

Overall , a decent mower for the price . Lots of plastic but if those parts are made well , everything should last a while . Not too happy about the hook-up between the bag and the mower . Design could have been more robust . Hopefully , the bag will always stay in place after a few years of use . LV

Listen, this mower has the FUNNEST mini-game! Every 2 minutes the extremely cheaply made top cover vibrates off and you have to stop, turn it off, try and reattach it and then watch it fall off seconds later. I’ve used this mower less than 2 hours and 45 minutes of that is doing what I just described. It is so much fun spending almost $500 for doubling the time it takes to cut my lawn.

Since the day I bought this mower run it 15-20 minutes shut it off takes you 20 minutes to let it cool off so you can start it again not impressed so far

Bought to TB 230 self propelled to replace a 10 yr old one that had rusted out here in Florida. Worried from some of the reviews but after using 3 times so far it has proven to be a reliable good cutting mower. Always starts in the first pull. Depending on how fast you set the self propell it can climb small grades easily. So far I’m very satisfied with this newer version of my reliable mower from the past.

I purchased my Troy -BILT TB230C 10 months ago and this morning I put fresh gas in it and went to start it up and it will not start. I am very disappointed as I have had other brands in the past and never experienced a problem such as this especially when this machine is not even a year old. I really would appreciate if your company will help provide me with a fair solution……

I had an old model and the frame rusted out after years in the Florida climate. Based on reviews of both this model and the Toro it seems experience varies from 5 star to 1 star in both cases. Finally Decided to stay with Troy Built. Easy assembly out of box. Just basically bolting the handle together. Put in oil, gas and started on first pull. My lawn is relatively flat and the mower performed well. It does seem to have less power in the front self propelled action than my previous model. I think it would not be a great choice for hilly lawns. So far satisfied!

We bought this mower as it was a close to the one (different name) we had last year. The model that would have been almost identical would have been the TB230B. We were able to drill out the spot for the clean out port which we kept from last year. This was not an easy task but it was accomplished. Just finished using the mower for the first time and disappointed. Our previous mower the lever handle allowed you to pull it and it propelled the mower. I have a small hill to go up and that was a feature I thought this mower had. Self propelled is not the same and I find I'm having to fully push the mower up the hill with good ole elbow grease so to speak. Otherwise the mower is fine and cut nicely. The bag held a lot, filling up a kitchen trash bag with one bag empty. If you do not need a lever handle propel then this mower is the way to go, otherwise keep looking at your options.

Made with lots of plastic and after only about six months of owning, it stopped working and will not start or run for more then a few seconds. Had an old troy bilt and i thought it would be ok but i was wrong seams like a common issue with dependability

Do not buy! Bought my TB230 new and it stopped running after only about 9 months. Apparently a carburetor related problem. Had it fixed at a certified Briggs & Stratton shop. Ran great for about 5 months, then same problem again. I don't know what third-world country Briggs & Stratton uses for their engine parts, but it's a total fail. I'm sending this one to the land fill and will never buy anything Troy-Bilt.

Troy Bilt TB230 Housing that holds the wheels to chassis is plastic will break in 3 months. Troy Bilt will not warranty. Absolute worst engineered product. Engine is great the rest is platic garbage.

I have used a TB230 for years until it wore out; it was a great lawnmower. I recently purchased another one 32 days ago only to find out the "Self Propelled" doesn't work at all. As an older person, I find it very hard to use. I am stuck with a lawnmower that is not useable.

Only used this once so far. This mower used to have a Honda motor but now has a troy built motor probably because it's cheaper. I'll have to see it's longevity and durability.

This mower was purchased in Jun of 25 and is non functional in Sept of 25 - 3 months. We had a 20 year old version of this mower (still runs but deck rotted out) and we thought if that lasted then this one would. We did not realize that they had replaced the metal height adjustment mechanism with plastic that is held on my about a 1/4" of plastic. The 1st time it died, my husband put it back on with a washer, but inorder to hold the washer tight enough, it stripped out the plastic gromment in the metal deck. (yes more plastic). I have attached pictures of how it broke. Troy bilt will replace the plastic piece under warrenty, but that is nothing more than a bandaid. I also attached a picture of how low it is to the ground without the functioning plastic piece. Basically, if you can push it over the ground, it scalps it. Troy-bilt - how do you expect to keep the reputation you once had if you cheapen it up to a less than one season product? I would give this a negative star rating if that were possible - I am so disappointed.

The self-propel feature is just about non-existent. Our yard is mostly hill and this machine takes too much backbone and arm strength. We like it starts with one pull but it's brand new still. Like it's not obnoxiously loud.

The drive on the machine is smooth and has a great speed. The high wheels make turning easy. The cut is nice and overall a great machine

Nice mower overall. What I don't like is the poor front wheel self propelled feature. Doesnt have enough strength to move the mower even after adjusting wheel speed. Everything else is ok.

Best mower I ever bought. It was exactly as advertised and I am impressed with the Troy Bilt motor. I have always favored Honda motors but they seem to be exiting the lawn mower business so it was good to see Troy Bilt has come up with a motor that is just as good.

Similar to Troy-Built mower I had for 17 years, but not enough power on the self-propelled mechanics. I use it to cut a ditch and it seems the frame drags, or there just isn't enough power to pull the mower along. The old mower worked well for this, this one is a disappointment.

The Troy-Bilt TB230 163cc TB Engine FWD Gas Walk Mower is an all around great mower. It cuts well, drives well. It starts right up and seems very powerful. I like the good solid gas tank cap.

I bought brand new lawn mower. It worked once, 2nd time it never started. Call to manufacturer, they said Since it is still under warranty then send it to Service center. Service center took 8+ weeks to fix it. Service center told me since it is under warranty, So 6-7 weeks is normal (I waited for about 8 week). They fix it but they said it not comes under warranty, So you have to pay. I paid about $120. But another problem is they kept my lawn mower (about 100+ mower was outside) outside, it get corrosion. Now I am not feeling like I bought brand new.

Variable speed is perfect, not the new personal speed. This mower is great. I’ve had one just like it for 15 years that just now is giving up. Hope this one can live that long as well!

It has power and it’s easy to use. It needs assembly when it arrives.

Looks good, runs good. But rear height adjustment was badly bent. You have to take off the rear wheel if you need to change cutting height.
