- A: This winch comes with a preprogrammed remote and no need to set up. If the signal of the remote control is lost, you can reprogram the remote again. 1) Disconnect the positive and negative terminals to the 12 volt DC battery. Turn on the power button. 2) Connect the winch POSITIVE power line to the positive battery terminal. 3) Push both OUT and IN buttons at the same time and continue to hold, do not release. 4) While continuing the hold both OUT and IN buttons, connect the NEGATIVE power line to the negative battery terminal. 5) The light should remain on, and not flickering. The remote is now programmed. *There is another method with less steps as follows: When the remote control transmitter is replaced, the same type of transmitter is required for pairing. Press the power button, then press IN and OUT buttons at the same time (red light flashing), then turn on receiver for 1-2 seconds, the relay should make a sound that alerts the remote is paired. -Repeat steps if needed. Verify the remote batteries are not weak or drained. Replace Remote Control if issue remains.6 months agoHelpful?

Simple to modify for wireless dump trailer control

I used one of these to add wireless control for our PJ dump trailer. It is a power up /power down unit so it needed a motor run signal as well as up & down. That was easily added by using a couple of diodes, a bit of wire and a few connectors. The up/down signal lines trigger the appropriate solenoid and also triggers the motor run on the contactor. A diode between solenoid & contactor keeps the signal from back-feeding & triggering the other solenoid. I've used this configuration for about 3 years now with no problems whatsoever. The range is very good. No problem controlling the dump from the truck cab.

DO NOT BUY UNLESS YOURE WILLING TO PULL APART THE RECEIVER BOX AND SILICONE IT SO ITS WATER TIGHT!!! I had my winch out in the rain ONE TIME and the wireless receiver filled completely with water and shorted out and left me stranded..

Needs a clip connector instead of a ring lug.

Works great! It is a huge time saver and makes operating the winch much more efficient as I longer have to walk from the work area to the wired controller. I would have given it 5 stars if it weren't for the fact that the receiver unit requires a nut to be removed and reinstalled on negative electrical connection on the winch motor to install the ring lug connector on the remote receiver. I don't feel the plastic housing is durable enough to remain with the winch, either on my vehicle or on my trailer for a long period of time. Also, there is no convenient way to securely mount the receiver to the winch without placing it in harms way in the event of the rope/wire snapping back and without modifying the housing of the winch.

Transmitter good, receiver connector limited

The transmitter is well built and has good range. The receiver is limited because it comes with a custom connector that doesn't seem to match anything.
