Not sure what the 1,500 pound rating actually mean

Electric jack good for small trailer. I hooked it up to my trailer with only a couple hundred pounds of toung wieght and the jack is training to lift it. No way it will lift 1,500 pounds. Hopefully it lasts a while? Anyone know the contact info for the company that makes these jacks?
