Toro 22 in. 60 V Max Recycler Rear Wheel Drive Walk Behind Mower, Personal Pace Auto-Drive, 6.0 Ah Battery/Charger Included

This model is basically a much updated version of a gas powered Toro I owned many years ago, which was so reliable and functional I decided to again buy a Toro. It cuts grass nice and even in mulching mode, does my typical suburban lawn in about 30 minutes while dropping the battery capacity to half. AND it does it fairly quietly! The Personal Pace works incredibly well. I am planning on pairing it with a battery operated Toro snowblower with same battery type so I should have enough reserve battery capacity for any situation.

After putting this machine through its paces, I'm impressed with its ability to not just mow a lawn, but also to deal with tougher varieties of grasses. The battery is more than adequate to mow a third of an acre. The only improvement I would make is castering front wheels, which would increase its manoeuvreability greatly.

First time using the mower, within 3 minutes, the left rear wheel came off. It appeared that the bolt was never tightened from the factory. Disappointed. After re attaching the wheel, I have used the mower several times. Works exactly as I hoped when going to battery from my 20 year plus personal pace gas mover.

I have the same complaints as in this previous review attached below (clumping, annoying safety flap). When I first used the mower in the spring it performed well. I was able to mow my 1/4 acre bermuda yard on one battery charge. Now that my grass has thickened up in the summer it requires 3/4 battery life to mow half the yard. The motor runs at the higher speed the entire time. I also am mowing every 4 days and removing about 1/2 inch per mow. I have to mow slowly to avoid significant clumping and the mower always leaves a big clump when I stop to turn around. I like the ease-of-use and the quieter running but if I have to start mowing every 3 days I'll probably eat the cost and get a gas mower. Are these mower just under-powered or is there a known issue resulting in this poor performance? With regard to the plastic safety flap on the rear it is curved concave downward so that in hits the grass almost vertically so it will never slide over the grass. Is this a design flaw or is mine installed upside-down? "Underwhelming! a day ago had this mower for about two months now, not too impressed with it. Battery life is poor and sometimes runs out before i finish cutting my full yard (between 1/2 and 3/4 acre) i also feel not enough power to complete the job specifically enough power to throw the grass clippings completely into the bag causing lumps of grass that i need to pick up. the mulch feature does not do a good enough job and leaves clumps of grass. just not enough power!! i mow my lawn usually every three to four days so its not like the grass is overgrown or overwhelming the mower. Lastly, the black plastic strip on the rear of the mowing deck gets pulled underneath the mower anytime i pull the mower backwards and even worse continually gets stuck under the mower. only way to fix is to turn mower off and left mower to release the plastic strip, very annoying and inconvenient. would not but again, in fact wish i could return it for a toro gas powered push mower. underwhelming to say the least!!"
