- A: Like the FDA and pet owners like you, we are concerned about the reported cases of dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) in dogs that are not genetically predisposed to the condition. Throughout their studies though, the FDA still has not found any science-based causes to link grain-free diets – including Taste of the Wild – to DCM. As they note, it is a complex issue with numerous factors to consider, such as breeds that have a genetic predisposition for developing DCM. We have 2 dogs. A German shepherd and a mini dachshund and both love the food and have benefitted health wise. Our dachshund dropped weight and gained muscle which is incredible for a 14 year old dog. Our German shepherd has loved the food since day one and it has helped her sensitive tummy. I could not recommend this food enough!

My Great Dane has a chicken allergy and is generally pretty picky but she always finished her bowl when she eats taste of the Wild. She also loves pretty much all the different flavors (except for the chicken ones) and I love that so many of the lines have no chicken in it.

My dogs LOVE Sierra Mountain Canine Recipe roasted lamb, and I’ve seen great improvements since switching. Their digestion is smoother, coats look shinier, and they no longer itch! The grain free formula with lamb & sweet potatoes is gentle yet nutritious. It’s a little pricer than most brands, but the quality and results from my pups is worth every penny! Highly recommend.

We have been feeding our 2 shiba inu's the lamb and salmon grain free taste of the wild since they were puppies! Shiba's are picky eaters and ours love it so much they drool while I prepare their bowl! They gobble it down!

Do the research for your breed

When I got both of my Staffies I researched for the best food fir their breed and it was Taste of the Wild Dierra Mountain with roasted lamb. This was 10 and 9 years ago respectively and my dogs love it. Everyday you eould think I hadnt fed them in days, my girls are always lickin their chops for their meals!

We’ve switched from iams to taste of the wild. My dachshund was not a good eater until I switched, he loves the food so far. And I went with this brand because it’s US made and better products. Excepted to see long term what it does for my pups!

My dogs told me they absolutely love it! They said if I ever buy them another flavor they're running away! 😊 But seriously, one of my dogs used to have recurring ear infections, even though that wasn't the reason I went grain free, he hasn't had any since starting this food.

Lamb without grains has been the best for our dogs. Rocky and Sammie were both having issues with other varieties but they are doing Great with the lamb. This is a really good brand and worth the extra money over cheap stuff. Way cheaper on vet visits due to their food quality.
