Sun Joe 24-Volt Ion+ Cordless Push Reel Mower Kit, 24V-CRLM15

Have a small, sloping Bermuda front yard and was looking for an affordable replacement reel mower option over my existing rotary lawn mower which tended to scalp my yard in places (did spread sand this spring to try to even it out in places ….. seemed to work ok but more sand next season). Mower comes with a 4 A-hr battery which was sufficient to mow my 2200 sf yard at the lowest height setting. However, I must note that when I performed a test cut, I realized the mower did not perform well with taller, invasive grass species in the yard. In most cases, it just bent them over. THIS WAS POINTED OUT BY THEM IN THEIR OPERATORS MANUAL. Therefore, I cut my lawn with my rotary mower to its lowest setting then recut using the reel mower. I was very satisfied with the final cut. It had a golf course like quality to it and will only improve with future cuts. (This cut removes about 35-40 gallons a grass clipping….. it was a substantial amount of additional grass cuttings) The adjustable grass deflector was helpful to ensure the cuttings discharged into the open grass catcher. I emptied the catcher about every 200 feet. The reel itself is battery powered which is great; however, it is manually propelled. So regardless of speed, the reel blades are turning at a constant rate, unlike old reel mowers. The advertised width of the cut is 15 inches which seems about right. However, there is about 4 inches of uncut space from both edges of the cutting reel to the outside of the mower wheel. With a raised sidewalk and driveway, this leaves a 4 inch swath of grass that has to be trimmed with a trimmer. I checked the alignment of the reel blades using the included paper strips and found it to be adjusted correctly straight out of the box. I need to learn how to use grinding paste to keep blades sharpened so future cuts are clean and crisp. The mower is light weight. I would not recommend this mower for larger yards just due to the amount of time it would take to cut it. Overall, I am pleased with this mower and believe it to be a good value over other powered reel mowers

Push powered reel mowers blades slowdown, when you slow your push. This causes uneven cutting and stripes the grass, a bad look. Not this machine, the Sun Joe ion max keeps the blades spinning at high rpm’s for a really nice cut. This unit is perfect for my small Bermuda yard. The bagger is awesome too.

This is good. If you can make a wider one with dual batteries like the snow blower, that'll be amazing.

I bought this mower to cut my front yard. After the first cut, which was really nice, I extended to my back yard after purchasing an additional battery. My yard is fairly big, I'm on a corner lot. I have quickly upped my game. I am cutting on the lowest setting and my yard looks like a golf course. Not sure about the other reviews, my 2 batteries are more than enough to finish my yard with 2 bars to spare. As far as streaking, like any mower, you have to overlap your cuts or cut in different directions. Love it so far, I hope it lasts through the summer

Just started using my 24V-CRLM15 about a month or so ago and the reel has broken. Took a good look at it and doesn’t seem to be repairable. Which I hope isn’t the case. Searched the website/ other sites and could find a replacement reel. Yes it got caught on some mulch a couple of times but nothing that should have cased it to break the way it did. Love using this machine as it cuts the grass nice and short. Any suggestions sun joe?

Had my yard leveled last year and this does great at 0.6". I only with you had an upgrade available for a 7-blade drum for an even better cut.

Blades stuck against the frame and will not rotate.

Super compact, easy to use, easy to charge and makes mowing our small yard an easy task to take on ourselves. Very happy so far with this lawn lower kit. Another great product from SunJoe that fits within anyones buget.

I have about 2 acres of yard to cut, and use a riding mower for the majority of it. I do have smaller areas however that I have always used a push mower for. This works way better than my old gas push mower without a doubt! Out of the box, assembly was simple, took less than 15 minutes. It is easily adjustable for length cut. Battery takes about an hour to fully charge. The area I use the mower for takes around 30- 40 minutes to cut, and the fully charged battery lasts at least that long, but I believe it would last longer. I have not noticed any loss of battery power or drop off within the time frame of my use. It is quiet, easy to use, no resistance when pushing, starts right up every time, and simple to maintain and clean. The best part is it gives a very nice even cut, the first time!

The first thing I noticed upon opening the box was how lightweight this lawnmower was. Very easy to move around and the wheels glide smoothly. My husband didn't even have to look at the instructions to figure out how to put it together. It was actually pretty easy to do and took about 5 minutes. Make sure to fully charge the battery before using it for the first time. After the battery was charged, it was time to put it to work. It was important that this was easy to use and easy to push and it did not disappoint. Much easier than my previous one. I was surprised to see how quiet it was compared to other lawn mowers. If there is one thing I dread on Sunday mornings is hearing the neighbors' lawn mowers. Well, this one is not even close as noisy. I love the way the grass-collection bag is set up. It does not spread clippings everywhere and I didn't have to wear sunglasses to protect myself from grass and debris. It is also pretty bag, so if you have a small yard you probably won't have to empty it much. I think this lawn mower is perfect for a yard that is flat, without any bumps/rocks, without a lot of thick weeds. It seems to do an amazing job in such areas. However, my yard is pretty bumpy and there are a lot of weeds that prevent the lawn mower from running smoothly. While it does cut the actual grass properly, it has a hard time going over thick weeds, so it starts slowing down. Just to make sure I was right, I asked my neighbor if he would let me try it in his yard, since his grass looks perfect. He would have been happy if I would have cut the whole yard, but that wasn't going to happen. I tried it for a minute and I was pleased with the result. It runs very smoothly on perfect grass. So if you have one of those perfectly manicured lawns, I highly recommend it. It is quiet, easy to move around and it does a great job.

This is not a good product for us. The battery died way too quickly (don’t even get 1/4 of our yard done). Blades are not sharp enough (did not cut evenly and missed cutting weeds). The bag is not designed well- there are gaps and the grass falls out! I do like that it runs off of battery or you can manually push it. It is light weight, and easy to start.

I recently got this lawnmower because my other one quit working. I really like this lawnmower. It was easy to use. It cuts grass really good. I like that it came with a charger so you can charge the battery.

I love my new Sun Joe 24V-CRLM15 24-Volt iON+ Cordless Push Reel Mower Kit! It does a fantastic job with my yard. I love that I don’t have to use gasoline for it and that it comes with a battery and a charger. It’s so easy and light to push. I get my yard finished so much faster than I used to since I got my new mower!

The set up was simple, and the mower itself was light weight so this is easy to women too. Our yard in Florida is small, this mower is perfect for us - quick & easy. Low cut (.6) so it does work best on thinner grass. For reference our grass is Bermuda sod. Grass catcher is effective for smaller spaces (don’t have to keep emptying) Battery life is good. We love that it’s battery operated. Simple, quick, & painless lawn cutting experience!

This mower is really nice, It’s so much quieter and better for the environment than a traditional gas mower. It was easy to assemble, I had no problems getting it going. It did a great job of cutting my grass at the length that I wanted.

I think this product is great IN THEORY; however, it does not do a great job at cutting grass. I love the concept of a cordless electric lawn mower, but this is just weak and spits out the grass everywhere. it may be better for perfects lawns (shorter length) without sticks and other non-grass objects, but it barely made a dent in my lawn.

Great little mower for my size of yard, sharp blade and good battery life.

I use the sunjoe battery powered reel mower on my front yard. I keep it cut to .6" and can get through the cut on 1 charge (about 4k square feet). I have had many folks stop and ask me what I use to cut my grass. I have received many compliments. Sunjoe has made me a fan.

Simple easy solution to mowing your lawn. Good upgrade to the classic reel mower and no noise!

This reel mower is a good, cheap little reel mower that will save your back from pushing a manual. Its not a McClane, but it will get you into reel mowing for cheap. I can mow my entire front yard on one battery. The issue I have right now is I need to find a way to sharpen the blade. My old fiskars, i can backlap it with no issues. With the motor on this mower, it makes it a tight fit. Like the others stated, mowing over sticks and rocks will cause issues for this mower. But I usually don't mow sticks or rocks...I clear my yard of that stuff and tend to only mow grass. Mowing over sticks and rocks w/ a reel mower (no matter what kind) will knock the blades alignment off and or dull/nick the blades. I currently mow my yard at 1in, but plan to go shorter when I can level my yard.

The build quality is substandard at best. I cut my yard down to 1 inch and this had issues cutting to the lowest setting. Like the previous reviews the smallest piece of anything stopped the reel immediately and a file was needed on the bed knife.

I specifically purchased this product because it had the ability to drop height down to .6 inches. What a disappointment. I would like to think SunJoe tests their products before releasing to the market because this product doesn't have the engine strength to cut at .6. The mower constantly dies/stops as you try to push it at this height. If you want to cut higher than you might have a chance.

I planned to use this on my bermuda front lawn. So far, Ive used it 3 times. THis thing cannot handle even the smallest pieces of mulch and sticks that make their way into the yard. It will lock up and you have to stop, take the key out, remove object and then most times you have to file down the blade because it gets bent and hits the guard and will not turn. Too much trouble for me. It also doesn't cut weeds at all. I don't have a lot but it still looks bad when the weeds are still tall and the grass is cut. The grass it does cut looks good, but its not worth the hassle. I asked for a return after 45 days, but was told 30 days was their policy. Should've gotten it from the box store instead. Now I'm stuck with it... If you have a yard with no weeds and no weeds or obstacles to get caught, it will work for you.
