When applying the Colorstay By Scotts Black Mulch we would recommend that you apply between 2 and 3 inches for the best possible results. If you are applying to an area that has been previously mulched I suggest turning over the existing mulch. a year ago- A: Colorstay By Scotts Black Mulch is not treated to deter insects. There is nothing in the mulch that would specifically attract insects to it. Keeping the mulch a couple inches from the foundation will discourage subterranean termites.a year agoHelpful?
