- A: Over time, cedar will fade from the natural red color to a gray color. There is no product available to preserve the natural red color. However, polyurethane can be used, but it does make the cedar darker, similar to the color of cedar chests.5 years agoHelpful?

Very nice bird feeder

I bought this bird feeder a few years ago, It has stood up well over the years and maintained it's cedar look very well. I get a wide assortment of birds coming to it everyday. It's a good value for the price.

Not built to hold seed.

I Loved this bird feeder, so I mounted it on a pole. The second time I added seed, the cheap plastic viewing window blew out and all of my seed ended up on the ground. The plastic needs to be twice as thick and there needs to be a brace lengthwise, inside to give the feeder more support. Pretty bad. I'm not sure what to do with it, as you can only put a few cups of seed in it. Going to call Royal Wing.

READ before buying…

Completely fell apart in one year! First, the wire that it hangs on wouldn’t stay put…that lead to it not hanging straight. Next, the wire coating wore and would prick into my finger - so, I wrapped it in tape. Next, the sides started separating and leaking seed…POURING SEED. I was going to repair it - the first time I hit the side with my tiny “girl hammer” it completely collapsed! When I say JUNK…I mean JUNK. Very disappointed!

Not built well. Fell within a day

Just purchased and hung this feeder for my kids. The hanging cables on the sides are not tied in any way, just stapled to the side as it turns out. We hung it, came inside, and looked out the window, only to see it fall out of the sky and explode on the ground. Very disappointed. The cable came loose and the whole feeder fell and broke.
No, I do not recommend this product.
