Q: I have a senior donkey who needs to up his weight this winter. Because he is not the full size of a horse (around 350-400)—what should the safe feeding amount be in order to not do him more harm than good? Thanks!
8 months ago- A: Donkeys are extremely efficient foragers and are prone to health problems from calorie-dense foods. For your 350–400 lb senior donkey, consider a feed plan involving soaked beet pulp or a specialized "laminitic-safe" pellet, along with other supportive care measures. Always consult with a veterinarian to develop a tailored diet before introducing any new supplement.8 months agoHelpful?

Q: Feed to a alpaca? He is 19 years now. Seems to drop weight more in winter. Also he has never pooped pellets, always blups. Thought many the rice might work, but am asking first.
2 years ago- A: Hi Terri F, According to the vendor: Max E Glo Pellets are not labeled for use with alpacas, only for horses, and we cannot advise on using this product with alpacas. For horses, feeding higher energy supplements such as Max E Glo with crude fat min 18% can help maintain body condition. For horses with loose stools, some may benefit from the fiber from the rice bran, but others may continue to struggle with loose stools from an increase of fat in their diet. If you are concerned about your pet’s stool condition we recommend consulting your veterinarian to rule out any underlying medical concerns.2 years agoHelpful?
