This kit, though convenient, can be purchased in separate pieces for much less money. With the exception of the air filter, which is a Kohler proprietary item, the oil, oil filter, fuel filter and spark plugs can be purchased from other less expensive manufacturers such as Pensoil, Fram, Champion, STP, etc. If you're a purest and have to have Kohlers name on the parts and pay the extra for that luxury, than this kit is for you. Be careful to get the correct kit for your engine. The kit I bought had the 3 inch thick air filter rather than the 2 inch thick filter my engine required. Oops.

Another review of a mismatched air filter in kit

I have the same issue as another reviewer. The filter is too tall to fit. The kit says 20-26 hp. Mine is 24. Seeing the other review had me look before opening the package. Thankful for that so it’ll be easier to return it. Disappointed for the wasted time and another trip. Too bad Kohler makes what was supposed to save frustration more frustrating. I’ll buy everything separately and make sure each item is correct. This experience lowers my confidence in Kohler as a company that deserves trust and loyalty.

The only problem with the kit for the 26hp Kohler motor was the air filter. I was given the correct air filter though it had to be ordered.

This makes my maintenance routine so easy. We have lots of equipment on out place that requires routine maintenance. This kit has everything for our Bad Boy Mower so I can knock out an oil chance, plug change, air, oil and fuel filter in about 30 minutes.

All the maintenance bits in one convenient package! I buy this kit annually to do the winterization tune-up on my Cub. Works well. Only thing I noticed is the spark plugs sometimes need a gap adjustment.
