I bought this food for my 4 pup's who are all different age ranges. They all have taken a liking to this food and are maintaining their weight well. I work in a veterinary office and am happy to be able to get my pups high quality food. I do wish it was a little more cost effective for me though.

We always had Hills Science Diet for our furbabies in our house since as far back as I can remember. Our Cody(peek-a-poo and our Zack (black lab) had the diet for years. They passed away Oct. 2024 and Feb. 2025 respectively at the ages of 19 and 14. We adopted a Catahoula leopard hound female in July of 2025 and she was also recommended Hills for her diet. She likes it alot.

My dog liked the food but the past week she's been extremely itchy. I checked the ingredients and realized that there's fish oil in this chicken flavored food. My dog is highly allergic to fish (verified by a vet bloodwork test). I wish I'd checked the ingredients because now I have an expensive bag of food I can't use and my poor baby girl is chewing her paws bloody with an itchy booty. Just forewarning to anyone else looking to buy this food if your baby has fish allergies.

I switched to this when my local pet store ran out of a different Hill's Science Diet Weight management food I was feeding my Pug. I figured the joint support would be good for her. I decreased the amount slightly from her other food based on the specs off the bag, but after 2 bags....she has BALLOONED in weight. I have not put her on the scale yet, but she went from having a perfect hourglass figure to looking like a stuffed sausage. It breaks my heart because she can no longer jump up on the couch or chairs and she does these face plants into the side of the couch because she is now obese and can't lift all those rolls into the air. I am going back to the Diet food, even though it is Chicken Meal, instead of real Chicken. I wish the nutritional information was accurate because a few extra pounds on a little dog, can be devastating. it isn't right.

My dog requires a diet with less than 10% fat content. It appears fat is added to dry food to make it eatable..
The questionnaire never asks if a dog has specific needs such as avoiding pancreatitis.

My chihuahuas love this food! They are doing much better moving around this winter since they started eating this food in August. The kibble size is perfect for them. Their bowel movements are great and best of all, they have lost weight! They are 6.5 and 5 years old and love the taste.

It's the first time that I am trying hills. I always looked at the ingredients and stopped giving “ Orijens” for my 3 K9s and I am feeding them Hills from now on due to a Vet advice.
My dogs seem to love however I was wondering why there is powdered cellulose in the ingredients. We all know that it comes from wood pulp, as paper or cotton.(sawdust)

I was feed the regular perfect weight formula to my senior Cocker. Then this formula came out. I made the switch. A huge change in her movement. She is more active . I love it is lower fat with joint support. I read some reviews about the ingredients list and laughed. Guess those people haven’t learned how to read ingredients list and that it is science backed . Ingredients are what they are for a reason. Love the food and love that it is from Hills.

The Best Food!

I have one small dog and one large dog. One with joint issues and one with weight issues. One that is picky and one that is not. Both dogs LOVE the flavor and size. It is SO nice to have one food that they both love that meets their needs and is still the excellent quality we love from Hill's. (Good food keeps dogs from being stinky!) I don't have to mix types or separate their food anymore. We have gone through 5 bags so far and they still enjoy eating it and they are healthier than ever. The best food I've ever used. The hearts are adorable and they enjoy the small kibbles.

My seniors were eating the Perfect Weight formula and doing great. Then I found the weight plus joint. I have been feeding over 8 weeks now and I have seen a difference in mobility. They all take joint health, fish oil and now adding this formula of Hills has made a positive change in all 4. I highly recommend it. My dogs eat it he food just fine and are considered small/medium breed.

My girls love it!

I use this as their main meal. My girls are 7 and 12 lbs. They like the small bites. The joint supplement as helped so much. My little one has very bad legs and I was thinking a wheelchair. After using this food, she is doing so much better and walking around the circle. The problem is it is hard to find. I can only get it in small bags, and I have to go to the pet store a lot. Medium size bag would be nice.

I don't recommend this recipe

Returned immediately after reading over the ingredients on the bag. I am disappointed and shocked. Powdered cellulose is refined wood pulp?! Though "chemically inactive", this is purely unnecessary filler. It is considered "safe", but it's not necessary or nutritionally beneficial. It is added fiber - of low quality unlike (not overly processed) vegetable matter. The only veg listed is carrots (a sugary starch!) + Corn meal, whole corn grain, soybean meal, AND soybean oil. No chondroitin for joint support?? Higher in carbs than protein... I needed a food for weight management :(

I was excited to see lower fat & joint formulas combined. I have been rotating between the two with my senior girl. Now I can feed the exact same formula and get both benefits. I have 5 Senior Cockers and they all have some arthritis . Vet recommended Joint support food. I found this new formula and decided to give a try. My 5 are already eating the 7+ Senior formula. Well it's been one month on this new food and I can tell a difference in the mobility of all 5. They love the food and are doing great on it. Definitely recommend giving it a try for your senior pup.
