Q&As

1 - 10 of 45 Questions

Q: Does this kill poke weed

1 Answer
  • A: No, this product will not kill established pokeweed While GroundWork Weed and Feed utilizes standard broadleaf herbicides designed to eliminate small, shallow-rooted lawn weeds like dandelions and chickweed, it is not powerful enough to eradicate mature pokeweed. Pokeweed is a tough perennial that develops a massive, deep taproot. Granular weed and feeds applied across the whole lawn will only cause minor cosmetic damage to its leaves without killing the root system

Q: Is this safe for St Augestine?

1 Answer
  • A: The GroundWork 50 lb. 15,000 sq. ft. Weed and Feed Lawn Fertilizer is likely not safe for St. Augustine grass, as it appears to contain the herbicide 2,4-D, which is known to damage this grass type. St. Augustine grass is sensitive to many common herbicides, so products specifically labeled as safe for it should be used instead

  • A: No, the GroundWork 50 lb. 15,000 sq. ft. Weed and Feed Lawn Fertilizer will not kill sticker burrs (also known as grass burrs or burrweed). While the product's weed-killing ingredients target broadleaf weeds like dandelions and chickweed, they are ineffective against grassy weeds like sticker burrs

Q: Can you give me the number for using the groundwork brodcast speader with this product. Also, better to spread when grass wet or before a rain. Trying to kill my active clover so i can seed in the fall

1 Answer
  • A: Refer to the broadcaster spreader settings guide, this is a graulate. Designed to control weeds in late spring and early fall, GroundWork Weed & Feed Lawn Fertilizer is a phosphorous-free way to control dandelions and other broadleaf weeds, Longevity is 4-6 weeks.. Once fertilizer is applied, rain/irrigation is a good thing. It will help it release and start working.

Q: My garden needs a high nitrogen fertilizer according to my soil test can I use this safely and and not kill vegetsables

  • A: Definitely do not use the Weed n Feed. It has a weed killer in it that would not help a garden plot. The Groundwork 24-0-4 would be much better https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/groundwork-lawn-food-24-0-4

Q: How long does this product control weeds: 3 months, more, season long, etc......? And should the grass/weeds be damp on application, or can I do it dry and wait for rain, would it carry the weed killing chemical to the roots then?

Great product. Please read my review

Great product!!! I have used it for years. I don’t know why the bad reviews unless they didn’t use it with the grass damp. I get up early and do it while the dew is still there. I would not use it for years if it didn’t work on killing weeds!!!!!!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Didn’t work for me.

Applied the product as instructions directed but after 2+ weeks I can see zero difference. The weeds seemed to love it but I can’t see any sign that the grass got any benefit from the small amount of fertilizer in the product

Will it work?

My yard was completely taken over by weeds this year. I bought this product to give it a try, being it was almost 1/2 the cost of Scott weed and feed. A little concerned about the negative reviews. I have 2 acres of yard so I only bought a couple of bags to try. I opened the first bag and there were no clumps nor was it damp nor did appear it had ever been damp. It spread fine with my tow behind spreader. Opened up the second bag with same results. Purchased enough to do my entire yard and all bags were the same. After 2 days it didn’t seemed to have worked. I mowed my yard and on the 3rd or 4th day we got a little rain. Many of the weeds have now dried up and turned yellow. Seems to not be quite as effective on the clover yet.

Yes, I recommend this product.
