Greenworks 21 in. 40V Brushless Cordless Battery Walk-Behind Push Lawn Mower, 5.0 Ah USB Battery & Charger

I will attempt to add a video showing the amount of play in the blade assembly. The bearing or bearings are shot in the motor assembly. I have tried to get warranty support and received one excuse after another. I have lost track of the number of videos and e-mails I have sent. They did send a " fan" and blade assembly telling me that will solve the problem. The old assembly was fine when it was removed. This Company clearly does NOT stand behind their product.

I bought this mower in 2022, and it's served me well since then. I recently started not being able to mow my entire 0.2 acre lot on a single battery charge, so I guess the battery is just getting old. However, the mower itself still works great, and I've been quite happy with my purchase.

So far this lawn mover is easier and does a better job than our previous one, looking forward to see the endurance of the product.

I bought this mower on May 5 to replace my 22 year old gas mower. With the old mower I really felt like I was pushing something. This new one......well, it's like I am just walking around. Being 88 year old, I now don't wonder if I will be able to mow the lawn again next year. Seems a sure bet I will be able to with this new Greenwork mower!

i bought this earlier this week and found myself only mowing for 20 minutes before the battery was either one. over heated or 2 completely dead. 4 recharges later and my less the 1/2 acer yard is finally cut... the front at least. still have the back yard to do.. after discussing with my father we looked at the blade and long and behold. they are so dull i could run my finger along it with pressure and not get a single nic. we are sharpening the blades tomorrow and trying again. i feel this product should come with 2 batteries to make up for its preformance loss.

I have been using this mower for a full mowing season in 2024. It works well on a small yard and can mow through high grass pretty well but some spots need re-mowing. Battery life is reasonable. I like how easy it is to adjust the mower deck to adjust height. Easy to push. Quiet and smell free. Have not used the bagger yet. Very convenient mower. I have not used a gas mower in two seasons. If I had a bigger yard I would recommend getting a 60 or 80 volt mower, for power and mow time. Overall, this mower works for the yard I need to mow.

I've only used mower twice so far and it worked great. It's easy to use, the handle has 2 levels of adjustment for comfort and folds back for upright storage. I have a good sized lawn area and battery still had 4 bars when done.

Love the mower. Perfect size for our yard was able to cut both the front and back on one charge.

I purchased this mower for a friend that is disabled. Because of her special needs, the self propelled option works great. This mower mowers most of her lawn on a single charge. The thing is that you can purchase additional batteries. I did but she hardly uses it because she says she needs a break before she can finish mowing. I love the batteries because they are not heavy and large like some of the other mowers out there. It is perfect for people like my friend who has mobility issues.

I really liked this mower and enjoyed how quiet and easy it was to push compared to my old gas one that legit gave me the shakes for a whole day just about. Unfortunately, I'm in my 5th month of having it and the battery is dying much sooner and over heating. Going to reach out to customer service and see if this is an easy fix though! Little irked that it's $100-cheaper than what I gave for it right now too.

Works better than our older one, a two-blade system. It does a god job in longer grasses and forbs and the controls are easy to use.

just Bought this today got it home charged it fully only got 20 mins of run time. What a joke. Started a timer how long it took to charge. 2hours 14 mins to get 20 mins of cutting short grass

Bought the mower worked great for a month then the battery would die in 15 min of starting. I would recharge it and again same results. contacted greenworks and the replaced the battery. It worked great last season as I use it in areas my rider will not do so great. This season back to same problem. Make no mistake it cuts great however due to the battery I would have to recommend a different mower. Possibly one with a larger battery.

My 7-year review of 4 Greenworks tools. I’ve been a user of Greenworks tools for 7 years, and I thought it was time that I left a long-term overall review. Note that I am putting this same review on four tools, and in the case where tools have been discontinued, I’ve selected the tool that appears to be the upgrade to the one I own. My battery-tool addiction started about 15 years ago, prior to Greenworks, but included only heavy lead-acid lawnmowers…. so I knew what I wanted, and what needed to change. But I also knew that I would eventually replace every gas tool, both for the environment as well as for ease of maintenance. I try to inspire neighbors to do the same thing, and I look forward to the day when our neighborhood is not plagued by the incessant sound of gas mowers, chainsaws, leaf blowers, and snow blowers. My first Greenworks tool was a 40v single stage “digipro” snowblower, which I bought used in 2016 (so it is now about 10 years old). I live in Eastern Canada, with two large driveways to clear, so I had no delusion that a little 1-stage 40v machine could tackle the plow-drift from a 30cm snowfall. But I was pleasantly surprised to find it easily cleared the frequent 10cm snowfalls we get here, and that it was light enough to lift onto our decks and raised walkways to clear places where our big old gas blower could not go. In the 7 years that I have used it, it has never broken down, even though I have hit some pretty-tough hunks of ice. There is a bit of damage to the plastic blades from the above, but nothing that affects the performance. Its great to get out in the early morning and clear snow silently while my family is still asleep! Since the snowblower worked so well, and came with 2 4AH batteries, I was inspired to add a lawnmower, which is the older version of the 21” brushless mower that I have linked this review to. We pushed this mower very hard (not that it was hard to push!) for 6 years. We have two large (100’ x 90’) properties to cut, and the turf is very uneven. In the spring, when grass grows like hay, the mower gets a workout, and it will take at least four battery charges to do both lots. Later in the summer, we can do one whole lot on a single 4AH battery. The mower is still going strong, and the only sign of wear is that the wheels have become wobbly. I’m not sure about the new models, but the wheels on ours are just nylon with no ball bearings, so they eventually wear and start to wobble. I know I can get new wheels, and I will probably do so next year. Another comment about battery mowers: I love that I can just turn it upside down to clean it out or re-sharpen the blade. You can’t do that with gas! I like to keep the blade sharp, and it is very easy to remove it and touch it up on a grinding wheel. Shortly after the mower, we bought the 40V 14” chainsaw. I don’t own a gas chainsaw and I never want to, but we have a fireplace and a lot of trees on our properties which often need trimming. The 40v chainsaw is wonderful for this, mostly because of how quiet it is, but also how easy it is to use and maintain. There is a lot of new infill in our neighborhood, and people often take down trees illegally. So those of us who care about these things are always on edge when we hear a chainsaw. I love that I can trim my brush (legally) in silence without stirring up panic in the neighborhood. I don’t know why any homeowner would want or need a large gas chainsaw. That said, I have also found the limits of the saw: taking down larger trees at the cottage, or cutting thick (>10”) hardwood branches will sometimes cause the saw to temporarily stall (it resets in a few seconds). The chain also needs sharpening and tightening sometimes (as all chainsaws do) and I love how easy it is to adjust the tension. I also like that the oil doesn’t leak all over the place, and that the chain is oiled automatically without the need to “pump” the reservoir. The final item we bought is the 40V 450 CFM blower. It is not Greenworks’ most powerful, and it is not capable of clearing serious leaves on our huge yards, but that’s not why we bought it. It does clear the dirt and leaves and debris from the garage and patio and driveways very nicely, and I’m very happy about that for the low price we paid. It’s also very quiet compared to other battery blowers we’ve heard, and the variable speed is great: when clearing dust and dirt from inside the garage or basement, you don’t want to run this at full throttle! My final comments are on the batteries. We have a collection of 5 4AH batteries now, and we use them very heavily, especially in “hay season”. Except for the lawnmower, we seldom need more than one battery at a time. However, 2 of the batteries no longer hold a complete charge: they charge up to 3 of the 4 indicator lights. One of these is no longer capable of running the lawnmower or chainsaw, but they both run the leaf blower for a decent amount of time. I have heard warnings that one should never charge Lithium-Ion batteries when they are cold, and it is possible that we caused some of that damage this way before I knew better. In any case, no battery will last forever, and the two that are dying may be the ones from the snowblower which are now 10-years old. My summary: I love my Greenworks tools, and would have no hesitation recommending them, especially to someone who does not push them as hard as we do. However, I do hope someday to replace my big 29” gas snowblower with a 2-stage battery model, and I know this will require a higher voltage battery system. For that reason, I expect I will also move my other tools to the new system eventually, especially the lawnmower, and maybe the chainsaw, as I invest in bigger batteries. I encourage anyone thinking about battery tools to think about all the equipment you will eventually want, and to choose a brand/battery that will work for everything. I’ll be waiting to see what Greenworks (or other companies?) offer in a 28” snowblower, and my next upgrades will be determined by that.

Bought this mower last season to mow my tiny front and back yard planted with Bermuda grass. Worked fine last year and I could just squeeze out two mowings from one charge if I forgot to renew the battery charge. Now I can only get 3/4th of a yard mowed before the battery dies. Thought I might have a bum battery so tried to buy a replacement. Can’t find one any where. Really disappointed in this product. Also, I now get a solid red light when plugging the battery in to charge. Have to leave it in my house overnight to cool down. Not particularly efficient as it takes two days to mow 1/8th acre.
