I have 3 cattle dogs which are all outside dogs and we live in the North Carolina mountains. Fleas and especially ticks are rampant in the woods where I live due to animals such as deer being carriers. My dogs "get ticks" about once a year and this is when I use the Frontline Plus on them. I follow the instructions to the letter and the ticks are gone in 24-48 hrs. I love this stuff! I decided to write this review after just today noticing a tick on one of my dogs. Came to TractorSupply.com to check out the frontline and found the reviews. Now for the lady who hated it and said that it didn't kill her fleas I would say this....Vacuum, Vacuum, vacuum! I cant stress this enough. Even with the frontline you have to do your part too! Vacuum everyday, maybe even multiple times per day and do this for at least a week. You must dispose of your vacuumed waste properly too so you don't reinfest your home with the fleas and flea eggs. I promise you will be much happier if you do this simple step along with your frontline treatment. Recommend this product??? You better believe it!

Frontline was all I used years ago so I decided to try it again. I had been using Advantage Multi but I didn't have a prescription so I purchased Frontline Plus this time. Frontline works as it's supposed to. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem quite as effective or last as long as it needs to in my dog's case. It got rid of the fleas that were on my dog but I live in an area where there are stray cats and wild animals which means a large flea population. Every time my dog walks outside fleas basically attack him because of this. Yes, Frontline kills fleas but it doesn't interrupt the life cycle of the flea. At least that's why I think that it is not as effective but that's only my guess. At any rate, Frontlne couldn't control the fleas well enough to keep my dog flea-free and he was constantly scratching and I was even bitten a couple of times by flea bites in my house which was alarming. I do believe it kills fleas but it just couldn't keep up with the constant reinfestation on my dog. So, I went back to Tractor Supply and purchased a box of Advantage II which has the same active ingredient as Advantage Multi but doesn't require a prescription since it doesn't have the wormer component chemical in it. Within a day, all scratching stopped and no more flea bites on me. Frontline Plus is probably adequate for most applications but if you're in a high flea-infested area with wildlife and strays, I don't think it is adequate. Both Advantage II and Frontline Plus do a good job of killing fleas but the ingredient in Advantage II and Advantage Multi (Imidacloprid) not only kills fleas but interrupts their lifecycle. From now on I stick with Advantage II or Advantage Multi.
