The EP Minerals Minerals Safety Absorbent is a premium calcined granular clay absorbent that contains highly absorbent granules made of non-flammable minerals. This granular clay absorbent absorbs liquids including most types of oils, mixtures of soluble oils, acids, paints, inks and water. The EP Minerals Safety Absorbent can also reduce hazards and slipping accidents, prevent flash oil fires and keep floors clean and dry.

Alternative to sand or salt

I use this instead of salt or sand on slippery spot on the drive or walk - it works well in my seed/fertilizer spreader and isn't corrosive like salt. Only downside is it tracks easily and came be messy - entry way rugs/shoes off are required.

This is an excellent product to use outside as a deterrent to keep cats out of flower beds, gardens etc. I made an outdoor potty area and occasionally clean it.if it gets wet it dries back up without clumping just rake it.

Initially I bought 2 bags to try it out - then I bought an additional 4. I use this to mix into soil to get a fast-draining/fast-drying soil for my succulents. I have a number of outdoor succulents that I want to safe guard against rain, and a growing collection indoors as well. While I wish the granules could be less dusty, and more uniform larger sizes (1/4 inch would be ideal), the pricepoint makes up for it, and it's a great alternative to prepackaged bonsai mixes that are overpriced.

Great addistion to potting mix and for Aquariums

EP Minerals Safety Absorbent is great for adding to plant potting mixes to make them freer draining for better aeration of plant roots. Many Bonsai people use it. I also use it alone for starting plant cuttings and growing some aqutic plants. I also use this in planted aquariums - can be capped with gravel or sand or used alone.

I have to say up front I don't use this product for its intended purpose, which is sopping up spills from your driveway or garage. But if you are a water gardener, it makes a fantastic inexpensive planting medium for water lilies and other water plants, as it is pure calcined clay. I like to keep an extra bag around just in case I have something to plant (or maybe an oil spill to sop up someday!). I am sorry, however, that my local TS no longer regularly stocks this product--you have to special order it now. I wish I could still just run down to the store and pick it up without having to order it in advance.

The "Safe T" absorbent worked well for my needs .

The product worked out just as I had hoped but there was a big added plus. I made the mistake of driving my truck into my back yard which was still wet from previous rains and got stuck. I remembered about the "Safe T " absorbent in my work shed and spread a thick layer under , in front and in back of my wheels. That did the trick and I got my truck out.
