Item Information

Alfalfa Pellets are a premium protein source of nutrition for animals needing maintenance to higher levels of digestible energy. Alfalfa is often the preferred forage for horses because of its high quality and good roughage value.

  • Highly digestible and simple to feed
  • Easily stored and transported
  • Grown and processed in the USA

Ingredients:
Alfalfa Hay (ground)

Guaranteed Analysis:
Crude Protein (min.) 15%
Crude Fat (min.) 1.00%
Crude Fiber (max.) 33%
Moisture (max.) 12%
Ash (max.) 14%

Feeding Instructions:
Alfalfa Pellets should be fed at ground level and can be sprinkled with water for animals that may have dental issues, feeding disorders or are prone to choke.
Feed by weight and not by volume. 1-2% of a horse's weight should be fed daily in hay forages. This amount may vary depending on the animal's nutritional needs and level of activity.
Make feed changes gradually over a period of 7 days.
All forage grazing animals need long stem forage in their diets. When feeding bagged hay forage products, it is recommended that these products not be the animal's sole source of forage when long stem forage is needed for normal digestion processes.
Consult your veterinarian or nutritionist to develop a total health care and nutritional program for your animal. All health care programs should include regular deworming, vaccination and dental care.
The most important thing in a horse's diet is water. Provide plenty of fresh, clean water at all times.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from smells good these are ate up well by my horses. they are really good for adding supplements to if u dont need to feed your horse grain. however, i think i will go with the cube form because they don't soak well. the cubes soak much faster and disintegrate better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Savings in the bag I am so happy I found these alfalfa pellets because I get 10lb more for the same price as other brand. I use this for my sugar sensitive horse
Date published: 2019-08-06
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value and feed Great pellets, they are large and since I always soak pellets first, give your horse something to actually chew on. The other brand available in Florida is small pellets that could easily get stuck in a horses throat and when you soak them they go to mush. These pellets hold their shape and a great value in a 50 lb bag! Standlee pellets come in a 40 lb bag for the same price.

What is the selenium content of this item.

Asked by: BKGG
The forage for the DuMOR products grows mainly in Idaho, and Idaho is a very selenium-deficient area. We currently do not test our products for selenium.

Why do we have to call customer service regarding the sugar/starch content of this product?  Why isn't it listed on the bags?

Asked by: Ponytailfarm
These products are manufactured by several different companies. Alfalfa products are generally within 9-13% NSC (Non-Structural Carbs- sugars and starches).

Hi! Just wanted to ask why the smaller alfalfa pellet is not recommended for sheep yet the large pellet is. Also the ingredients list on the smaller pellet shows alfalfa and molasses - while the large pellet only has alfalfa and not molasses.

can the alfalfa pellets be fed to chickens for forage replacement?

Asked by: WCN1525
Nutritionally, a small amount added to the diet is fine. The concern is with the larger pellet size and pellet durability, the birds my not be able to effectively consume them. The recommendation would be to break up the pellets some before feeding them to birds. This can be achieved by putting them in a bag and tapping them with a hammer, using a coffee bean grinder, or similar method.
