Huge, heirloom, beefsteak-type fruits with gorgeous coloring and high sugar content popular in the south. Delicious fruit with bi-coloring that adds interest both to the garden and dinner plate. Although the variety is called Mr. Stripey, don't expect perfect stripes--no 2 tomatoes are the same. The background color of the tomato is yellow to light orange, and the red often appears in little spots that align themselves in stripes radiating from the stem end of the fruit. Indeterminate, grow in a tall cage or tie to a stake for support. Maturity: 80-days after planting.

Frankenmatoes

Bought 2 of these and they were not mr. Stripey. They ripened all yellow on the outside so we thought there would be some streaking inside? Nope, all yellow. At least if the taste was there was all that really mattered. Nope, practically flavorless and no hint of sweetness at all. Both plants. I have been growing stripeys for years which these were not.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Tasty, yet finicky

I love these tomatoes in terms of flavor. It’s been a wild ride over the last couple of years growing this heirloom. Last year I grew Mr. stripy and strangely enough it topped itself when it was only about 3 feet tall I still got about 15 to 20 tomatoes From the plant, and they were delicious This season I gave it another try. I live in zone 10B, Southern California, we get our first ripe tomatoes in Late April. Most of my salad slicers and larger produce 50 to 100 fruits by mid June. The downside is that most of my plants are spent by the end of June. This season Mister Stripey was no exception. I received about 40 fruits before the plant appeared to give up the ghost. I had been growing it in a half barrel, and rather than dig it up, I took my garden shears and cut it down, apparently leaving a half inch. This plant has now grown back, looking more healthy than ever. There are about 20 immature fruits that I expect will be ready in the next month if we don’t get a string of 95+ days of heat.

Spectacular fruit, bigger than my hand. Very prolific plant that grew beautifully in spite of my lack of proper care knowledge. I hope my garden center has these again next year.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Tastiest Tomato

Literally the best tomato I’ve ever had. Took a really long time to produce & didn’t give me a ton but omg, so worth the garden space. Well worth the wait because they are the tastiest tomatoes I’ve ever had. I’ll be dreaming of Mr Stripey tomato sandwiches all winter!
