Q: Can this product be used with a small dog effectively without harming the dog. I want to install something to prevent the small dog from digging at or near the fence line which may allow him to burrow out of the traditional fence.
2 days ago- A: Yes, the American Farm Works® 0.07 Joule 2 Mile AC-Powered Low Impedance Electric Fence Controller is designed for livestock and animal containment fencing. An electric fence delivers a short, intermittent pulse intended to deter animals from contacting the fence, rather than causing injury. For a small dog, effectiveness can vary based on the dog's size, coat thickness, and behavior. Installing a properly positioned electrified wire a few inches above the ground along the fence line is often used to discourage digging or attempts to crawl under a fence. Always follow the installation instructions carefully, ensure the fence is properly grounded, and check local regulations regarding electric fencing. The fence should be clearly marked with warning signs where required.a day agoHelpful?

Q: Why is the unit clicking and why don't I have the same, non-intermittent current running through my fence as I did with the same setup as last year?
a month ago- A: Great question, what you’re experiencing is actually very normal. Many electric fence chargers make a clicking sound as they run. That click is simply the charger sending out pulses of energy through the fence. Some units click loudly, some are very quiet, and some you may not hear at all, and all of those are perfectly okay. It’s also normal for the clicking sound to change a bit over time, depending on conditions and use. As for the current, electric fence systems are designed to work with a pulsed (intermittent) output, not a constant flow. Each pulse delivers a quick, effective shock followed by a short pause. This on-and-off pattern is intentional, and it helps keep the system safe while still being effective. We don’t make continuous-output chargers, so you won’t get a steady, non-stop current. If your fence seems different than last year, it’s usually due to things like grounding, vegetation touching the wire, or general fence condition rather than the charger itself.a month agoHelpful?
Q: does this work for a horse
a month ago- A: No, this specific unit would not be recommended for horses. The American Farm Works 0.07-Joule (2-mile) controller is a very low output charger, designed for small animals and light-duty fencing. It’s commonly used for things like rabbits, chickens, or small nuisance animals. Horses require a much stronger and more consistent shock to properly contain them, especially because: - They have thicker skin/hair - They are larger animals and can push through weak fences - Reliable deterrence is important for safety In general, horse fencing typically needs higher joule output (often 0.5+ joules or more depending on fence length and conditions) to be effective.a month agoHelpful?

Q: I have this 2 mile fence charger. I have 120v coming to the charger. When I use a DMM I get a reading of. 280v -.330v. I have an 8ft grd rod buried about 7.5ft and another one about 8ft. away. I touched the fence and 0 effects felt. Is the device screwed?
2 months ago- A: Thank you for contacting us. We are sorry to hear that you are not receiving voltage. We recommend performing the test using a fence tester only. Please check for any open gates, cracked insulators, or wet vegetation touching the wires. Also, please call 1-855-592-7322 for assistance.2 months agoHelpful?
Q: Does the wire need to make a complete circuit and come back to the charger?
5 months ago- A: For the American Farm Works 0.07-Joule 2-Mile AC-Powered Low Impedance Electric Fence Controller, the fence wire does not need to form a complete loop back to the charger. Electric fence controllers send short high-voltage pulses down the fence wire. These pulses return to the charger through the grounding system (ground rods), not by looping the wire back.5 months agoHelpful?
Q: My dogs jump on the fence then climbs on up and over. How can I setup my wires to contain them?
5 months ago- A: To help keep your dogs contained, you’ll want to place your electric fence wires at different heights so they can’t easily climb over. For your American Farm Works 0.07-Joule 2-Mile AC-Powered Low Impedance Electric Fence Controller, try this setup: • Low wire: About 6–8 inches off the ground — dogs will feel it when they step near. • Middle wire: Around 12–18 inches high — a second barrier they must cross. • Top wire: At or just above your dog’s shoulder height — this discourages them from jumping up and over. The idea is to give them multiple touch points so they get a consistent, harmless correction as they approach or try to climb the fence. Also make sure the fence is properly grounded and the controller is installed per instructions for best performance.5 months agoHelpful?
Q: what wire works best with this

5 months ago- A: Yes. The American Farm Works 0.07-Joule 2-Mile AC-Powered Low Impedance Electric Fence Controller has a blinking indicator light. The light flashes to show that the unit is powered on and sending pulses through the fence line.5 months agoHelpful?

If the charger is not producing a clicking sound or delivering a shock, this may indicate an issue with power supply, grounding, or the unit itself. We recommend checking that the outlet is working properly, ensuring the ground rod is installed correctly and fully in moist soil, and confirming that all fence connections are secure and free of vegetation interference.
DOA. Taking this back in hopes of one that works.
If the charger still isn’t functioning as expected, please contact us and our team will be happy to assist.
