Works as it should

I bought this today and used it for the first time, seemed to work as it should, but was difficult to see the flashing led's. It was even a cloudy day, had to cup my hands around it to see them. It think I will exchange it for a digital model.

Shockingly terrible at its only job!

This does receive voltage, but it keeps this a secret from you during the daytime. It is only when it is so dark outside that you cannot read the voltage levels written on the side, you will be able to see the indicator lights. After meticulously setting my electric fence up, I used this voltage tester to test my handiwork. I was completely deflated when I saw no blinking lights. I am new to electric fencing, so I assumed I must have made a mistake in my wiring. I wasted at least an hour checking all my lines and connections - until it dawned on me that maybe the tester was at fault. After reading reviews that the light was extremely dim with this device, I retested my fence - with a cupped hand, hunched over it and my eyeball just right up against it - it was daytime, but late in the day and not overly sunny at all - and I could just barely make out that there was an anemic blinking happening...I wouldn't even say it was a light, just a whisper of flutter in there. I might try to make some kind of dark box I can fit over it, so that I can actually use it. But for the price, it is absurd that anyone would need to do that. Not only is having to put my face so close to it in an attempt to see the faint indicator light incredible annoying, but it seems like a perfect recipe to get shocked one day. I would not recommend this product at all.

You Can't See This Tester In Bright Daylight

You can't see the lights on this tester during bright daylight which makes it confusing and worthless. Even if you hold your hand or hat over it, you can't tell that it is lighting up. Took a while to figure out that this was the problem and that my new electric fence was fine. Works fine if you want to test your electric fence at night.

I like the fact that I can easily test my energizer and fence set-up at a reasonable price. I do not like the fact that the indicator lights are unreadable in the daytime. Even cupping my habd around the output does not help. I have to use at night to be able to red the output lights.

After testing multiple times i fugured i had a ground problem. Everything looked good after readjusting. Tested again and the voltage tester didnt light uo but when i touched the fence it lit me up. This thing is junk.

useless piece of crap. i even tried painting the back panel black so that the lights would light up better against the black vs the red. did absolutely nothing. will be returning this.

After contacting Parmac about low voltage on my fence(950volts)it was determined my tester was not working right. I bought this tester and my fence tested 6000 volts.The light is hard to see in the daylight but it works great.Just shield it from the sun or test it after the sun goes down.
