This fence charger runs up to 2 weeks without sunlight and is powered by an internal rechargeable battery. With 0.20 output joules, it supports a variety of animals and livestock, such as cattle, horses, pigs and goats, and energizes up to 18 miles of fencing. This electric fence charger includes a built-in battery monitor, which allows you to keep track of your battery's health. With a quick glance, you'll be able to determine if your battery is going bad or your charger just needs a better angle. A durable case helps protect the energizer against the elements. Charged solar to full while installing the wire and insulators, installed and has been working at 100% since turned on. Works perfectly for the large pen I have it on, and am currently adding more fence line to connect to.

If you buy this product make sure you get some kind of warranty- actually, just don't buy it. Don't be like me with 3 of these non-working units sitting in my barn keeping company with the 120 mile AFW AC charger that also doesn't work- and no-one willing to fix them. Lot of waste of money though. My fault, I know the old saying about banging your head against the wall and expecting a different result, but what company would put out trash that would fail every time? One star for consistency. From now on I'll stick with the higher priced products that actually work.

We have gone through 3 of these since July. They work fine for a couple of weeks and the. Zero, nothing. We take back to TS get another and same thing and then again. Everything is hooked up and grounded. So purchase the replacement plan because these things don’t last.

I bought this on clearance which was a return unit without a battery. The price was within my level of risk. Also purchased a six volt battery on clearance (not the one for this unit but correct voltage). The unit didn't work thus disassembled the unit and found a lot of corrosion on one of the boards due to water getting to it due to leaking of the stick on cover on the front. After cleaning the circuit board and installing a jumper the unit works. The circuit boards (two of them) are well made but the enclosure is mediocre and definitely what one would expect from something in this price range. I'd recommend to anyone buying this unit to cover the top above the solar cell to protect it from the sun and environment. Most likely in the northern states this isn't required but in the Texas area where the sunshine is brutal during the summer is a requirement. Thus if one protects the upper part of the unit from the elements it will probably last longer than the three year warranty. I'll install the electronics in a durable enclosure and be able to use the unit for several more years. Shame on the designers for not considering the hash environments to which the fench charger may exposed.

Useless without the connectors

This energizer is useless because it did not come with any connectors to connect it to the electric fence. It also didn’t come with a grounding rod. Tractor Supply does not sell the connectors or the grounding rod. We have another energizer that came with everything we needed to use it

I purchased this solar powered fencer and charged it for 4 1/2 days before turning on. When the battery test button was pushed indicator lights would just flicker. No output to the fence which was single strand steel wire approximately 130 feet long. I went to Kencove fencing and bought a Parmak that works great, and the price was over $30 less.

I purchased this larger unit after my new smaller five mile charger failed to impress my fence wrecking gelding in his 60’x 60’ pen. Bought aluminum tape that is supposed to be super conductive also. After testing it I put my gelding back in. He promptly put his nose on it and jumped. A little. The next morning I woke to the sound of my horse clopping down my driveway. the tape was stretched and on the ground along with several broken fence rails. After spending over $450 on these chargers! No more solar for me!

I got this solar electric fence unit to keep bulls away from my heifer pen. So far so good. It’s simple to install and has remained very constant. Yes it was tested by the big bovines and they understood that reaching over the fence was no. They were shocked that they were not allowed to go over into the neighboring pasture. Great product.

The chargers do the job but they seem to need replacement every 3-4 yrs. The sun breaks down the plastic and can't read the sensors cuz they are so tiny - smaller than the eraser on a #2 pencil.
