Pathetic. Died after 7 months.

Complete junk. Lasted 7 months. Sounds like I was lucky it lasted even that long. A fencer CAN be built to last. They're deliberately building these things to be rubbish. By dying after the 30 day return period we're forced to buy another one. Because we need one while we wait the two weeks for a warranty repair. And the one they give you back won't be any better than the cheap trash you bought in the first place. Short of being hit by lightning, a good fencer used to last 30 years or more. Now I have 5 of these dead ones (three are Zareba brand). They seem like they're all from the same manufacturer, but with different branding. If you can find an OLD one at a farm auction, buy it!

My review is only regarding the information provided on this website. I was trying to compare different models and the specification section is inconsistent. The section regarding the amount energy at what voltage is wrong. The specification, for example call out the voltage to be 1V under one model and 1.2J under an different model, and then 20kV under another model. I always trying to calculate the max current for each. A=Energy(J)/(volts/time). So if you have 7kJ/(1Vx0 1s)=70000A. That would kill what ever touched it.

Charger died in six months

Bought the charger in June. It died in December. Had it in the barn where it would not get rained on, wet, or disturbed in any fashion. Ground line fully insulated to the series of buried six foot grounding rods outdoors. The charge line was insulated from the box to the fences. Did not bury them because mice eat the insulation. Daily inspected the fence lines for any shorts and made corrections if necessary. I have been running this type of equipment for over 40 years. Generally, I have had better luck with Gallagher. Last time I buy this slop.

Charger didn’t last 2 years! Installed in my barn, my barn is completely sealed and water tight, done everything correctly and over the top to protect this unit. Still quite working. I am an electrician and made sure this was done correct. Waste of time and money as this thing is garbage. Would not recommend at all! Called about the warranty and never got anywhere. 0 stars is too much.

I have bought several of these. I will not buy without extended warranty because they do not last longer than a year. Most don't make it that long. So I exchange. I also have 3 in my garage that don't work. I DO NOT recommend buying this product unless buying the warranty with it.
Also, they are sooo big and don't need to be.
The only reason I gave it 2 stars, is because of the price when on sale.

10/10 can verify: The American Farm Works low impedance 6.7 joule 120 mile fence charger is spicy. I have 100% confidence it can contain, or repel any land animal in the Americas.
Feels like being instantly blinded by pain from getting hit in the head with a hammer, while fiery lightning bolts shoot out of your fingertips. Sounds like a wooden table being slapped hard by a 2" wide leather belt. I think I'm going to go lay down for a bit now.

The good:
So far, this charger works great. It's super hot, and I've had no issues with it. The price is also great, and is less that most comparable options.
The bad: It's huge and bulky, and I'm not sure why. I've seen more powerful chargers that are half this size. I feel like the warranty should be longer than it is.
