My last dog food brand - finally!

We have a chocolate lab and like many other labs he developed skin allergies. I switched him to chicken or lamb & rice formulas in other brands to avoid corn but he didn't like them and his skin got a little better but he still flaked and scratched. I tried 4health chicken and rice because it also avoided soy and other stuff. I saw more improvement in his coat rather quickly but he still didn't like it and he would wait until his stomach was grumbling loudly before eating it. I thought he'd get used to it eventually but he didn't even after a month (he was also a little chunky and I wasn't going to waste the bag when I knew he was getting better). Then I saw this formula and though I'd give it a try. My dog loved it!! When I opened the bag he was all over me while I filled his feed bin. I feed him some out of my hand and he gobbled it up like a treat. When I put it in his bowl he ate it without any hesitation. I am sure with all the healthy ingredients in this food and the fact that he is actually eating it - he will continue to improve. I was beginning to think I would never find a healthy dog food that he would like to eat. Now I have one!

Misleading Ingredient Information

Beware of this food if your dog has food allergies. The front of the bag says the food has no wheat, corn, or soy, but that is not accurate at all. I fed this to my dog for just a couple days and realized she was having an allergic reaction to it (hives, scratching, flaky skin). I was confused because she's done well with salmon-based foods in the past and this food claimed to be free of her allergens. That's when I checked the ingredients list; canola oil, which is a corn product, was one of the main ingredients listed. So this food may work for other dogs without food allergies, but my low rating is due solely to the fact that the ingredients are misrepresented on the bag when compared to what's actually in it.

Good premium product, but not for us

Our Golden used to get ear infections all the time until we started using premium dog food instead of the mid-grade. We tried this one and his ear infections returned. We even changed his diet to mostly fresh chicken, vegetables, eggs, and yogurt with only a quarter cup of the kibble, but the infections are still popping up regularly. Otherwise, our dogs like it a lot and it is good for our Catahoula.
So if your dogs are not prone to ear infections, it should work out for you.

Do to this food, our dog is having massive diarrhea with blood in his stool. Please be careful with this product. We should have research further before making this switch. There is high concern about this particular product with the same issues for other people and their dogs.

Made my dogs sick! Beware!

I was slowly mixing our dog food over to the salmon and potato. I have an Olde English Bulldog and a French bulldog that loved the salmon flavor in dog food. It made both of my dogs terribly sick. Intestinal diarrhea with blood. I immediately took them off of this dog food after one week. First one dog got sick and then a couple days later the other dog. They are no longer on this dog food. This is terrible dog food. I returned the open bag to Tractor Supply.

Full of Mold

Have been feeding this to my lab for quite a while now. I discovered the for health brand while working for TSC while in college and decided to switch from Pro Plan and had been pretty pleased. However, the last bag I bought from the Oxford, MS location was full of mold. After seeing this I will no longer be feeding For Health Products and will probably no longer be buying dog food from the Oxford Tractor Supply. Very disappointing to see this from a company that’s supposed to put animals first.

I have a dog with a chicken allergy so this works well for him. This month I bought a large bag and the food seemed darker as well as greasy. Curious to if you changed your formula. He does seem to like it better. I tried to add a picture about your system wouldn’t let me.

The last bag, something is different.

I have been using this product for over a year now, and worked great. About a month ago, both of my basset hounds started itching so bad, and they did not want to eat the last bag I had purchased. I stopped feeding, the food and brought back to Tractor Supply---such a bummer because it had been working so well. Something in the recipe had to have changed, as I see I'm not the only one.

i used to use this all the time for my dogs. i would switch up flavors so they did not become bored. i have put my dogs back on it and my lab has had diahrea. then, the younger dog was finally put on it and she has had diahrea for 2 days and threw up last night! i now have to throw an entire bag away! what a waste of $60.

They use poultry in this food

My corso has a poultry allergy. If he eats any kind of bird he will lick his hands raw within days. We tried this brand and “flavor” because they claim it has no poultry. My dogs feet say they lie. He licked one foot raw almost overnight which means they are not an honest company. Thankfully tractor supply allowed us to return the bag and we got him the food we normally buy him.
