Q: Why is this to be installed on the implement and not the tractor PTO? I have it installed this way (on the PTO output). Is it for safety reasons or am I going to damage my tractor?

- A: The reason clutches like this one are not to be put onto the tractor end is because the springs and hardware on them are considered catch points. A catch point is something that could grab onto other things and pull them in. The note is a warning given for this safety reason and needs to be followed.7 years agoHelpful?

- A: Please see the manufacturer's response below: The 560-6006 is set slip at a torque of 7966 in-lbs which is 68 HP at 540 rpms. The clutch rating is purposely set a little higher than the normal operating requirements of the implement it is on. This is so that the implement can use the full amount of power it needs but when something comes into the drive shaft system from either the tractor or the implement the clutch will slip to reduce that torque. What the torque setting on the clutch needs to be is dependent on what is required to run the implement and what would protect the weakest member of the implement that is in the drive train system. We have not done any testing on what other spring heights for this clutch will produce what torques. The 7966 in-lbs setting is based on the most common OEM usage items for this clutch. If your customer is seeing the clutch slipping too often then they can tighten the springs a little to help stop the excess slipping. For adjusting the springs it is recommended to turn each bolt ½ of a turn and retry the machine. It is important to do this change on every spring of the clutch. If the clutch is not slipping they can loosen the springs by doing the same ½ turn and checking how it is working.7 years agoHelpful?

I bought this slip clutch because I was mowing a very rough field and I kept breaking shear bolts every time I hit a high spot, like once every 5 minutes. I put the slip clutch between the tractor and the brush hog and when I hit a high spot, the clutch slips, the shear bolt doesn't break, and I can keep right on mowing.

I upgraded my rotary clipper from a shear pin to a clutch. The factory settings are good for a 5ft clipper on a 30HP tractor. There is no slip when cutting tall, thick grass. The clutch properly slipped when backing over privet with an oak tree growing up through it.

The slip clutch was an easier install then the original that came with the mower. The old one was bolted on and permanent. This clutch is nice cause you can slip it on to the 540 gear and it locks with a button and it can be taken back off easily for winter storage so it doesn't rust up for the season.

Installed on my Bush Hog. I was cutting overgrown pasture. Small trees ,heavy brush, saw grass ,ant hills you name it. I was shearing bolts right and left figured I might even damage my tractor. Went to TSC and purchased installed it. Getting a good cut not bogging down or stopping to replace bolts. It takes the shock and I keep cutting. Best thing I have bought in a while. (Cutting about 25 acres with cross fencing)

Bought this unit 2 years ago to put on a Chiunese Chipper I bought that was PTO rated for 40 horsepower and my tractor is 100 horse. Didn't want to tear up the chipper with too much power so I added the Weasler clutch. You need to adjust the unit prior to first use by loosening the nuts on the springs until the clutch easily slips and then tighten them using a torque wrench to the break torque you desire. I've had absolutely no issue with mine and you can buy replacement friction pads from Weasler or from TSC on special order.
