- A: There are many variables depending on the type of wound and location. Generally speaking, our hydrogel is best wrapped to prevent dirt and debris from entering the wound area. Our liquid formula does not need to be wrapped and should be sprayed regularly to keep area clean. It will be harder to prevent flies without using an actual fly spray or wrapping the wound completely. Good lucka year agoHelpful?

- A: Hi Jeancharlie. Our Equine Wound & Skin Care product is safe to use around the eyes, however, the 16oz bottle has a spray applicator that would be too strong for eyes. We don't recommend using Equine Wound & Skin Care in the eye for that reason. Please try our Eye Wash or Ophthalmic Gel instead. Most ear crops are wrapped with gauze by the veterinarian so consult with your veterinarian on best practices for administering a topical wound care product in and around the bandages. Best wound care product I have ever used!

We have a horse that seems to be the one that is always getting banged up somehow. Bought vetericyn at the recommendation of a barn friend. It is a bit pricey but cannot complain one bit when I saw the results. Used this on a pretty serious cut on a front leg and applied 2x a day bandaged at first, then after a few days unbandaged. The results were great healed in less time than I have ever seen and there is no scarring/proud flesh etc. Will definitely be keeping this in our first aid kit ALWAYS.

Not what it used to be

I used to really like this spray and used it on my horses, but recently discovered that in the last year or so they changed to a new formula -- it's not what it used to be! I wish they hadn't changed it because I don't find this new formula to be as effective! :(

Must-Have in Your Barn First-Aid Kit

If this is not a part of your equine first aid kit, get it! Seriously. I have had Vetericyn at the barn for the past 10+ years and cannot imagine a first aid kit without it. It is the first thing I grab for minor wounds. I use it first on the area of concern, allow to dry (as best as it can), then apply an ointment. It’s so simple and easy: just spray the area in question and you are good to go! The only caveat is that it will freeze during a harsh winter, so storing it in a climate-controlled area is a must.

At Badger Run Wildlife Rehab, we use this product on virtually every animal and every wound. We have found it to have superior effectiveness to other products, with the added advantage of it not "matting together" bird feathers as some other gel or cream products do, which would result in loss of insulation and potential ingestion while preening. We LOVE this product!

Wasted product

This wound care is great, expensive but great. The problem being the spray bottle quites spraying with about a 1/3 of the bottle left. I have at least 3 bottles like this. Do you have a fix thus ?

My Shepherd’s ears were ravaged by flies; they were bleeding, scabbed, etc. I began asking friends for recommendations on what could help. I was told by numerous people to use this product to heal the wounds and another product (which I also purchased from Tractor Supply) to keep the flies off of him. This immediately began soothing and healing after the first time I sprayed his ears. It has been nothing short of a miracle! His ears were completely healed within 2 days!! I’m so grateful for this product and would absolutely recommend this to anyone experiencing wound issues with their pups!
