We made a permanent installation with metallic cabling through firebrick direct to fan with remote fan switch, and outside air ducting to intake air. This stove consumes huge amounts of oxygen. Best stove we have owned in fifty-five years of backwoods heating in the US and Alaska; but seriously -this is only appropriate for large houses and semi-permanent installation. It takes several hours to assemble and at least two people to attach the pedestal. The hot-fire break-in time with windows and doors open (to the fumes) is about 48hours- during which time your house fire alarms will be going on and off continually. The pedestal box pieces are not really symmetrical and it is possible to assemble them incorrectly so the holes don't line up when attaching to the stove. The internal combustion air circulates top down in this stove so the instructions for starting the fire in stages are essential. You cannot build a whole fire in one stage. The instructions about leaving the door ajar proved wrong. It is better to do each operation with door fully sealed. Fire heats quickly and burns cleanly, evenly and completely; window only needs cleaning once weekly. Once a week is also often enough to dump ash through the floor drain and probably once a month to empty the ash drawer. We did not have vertical clearance to install a flue damper so the slowest burn we can get is about 8 hours on a full load of oak, with both air controls fully out. After ten hours the coals are almost all ash. For the size of our house that is fine, but for a smaller house you might consider a flue damper for less heat/ longer burn. Just an interesting note: Purchased and installed, this stove still cost less than what we would have paid to rebuild the stopped-up Jotul model 2020 stove it replaced -whose catalytic converter had already been rebuilt two years ago- and was now completely falling apart. I will always recommend an airtight, welded- steel, single opening, non-catalytic stove over other designs.

Easy to assemble and the instructions are very good.

Well made, well packaged. Works as designed yielding good heat and reduces wood consumption vs my old stove. Definitely an “easy breather” so I recommend a flue thermometer.
