- A: For vapour abrasive blasting, the most commonly-used nozzle orifice sizes range from 3/8" inner diameter to 3/4", increasing by increments of 1/16". A 3/8" nozzle is sufficiently constricted to produce an effective blast pressure with a 185 CFM compressor.2 years agoHelpful?
Q: Whats the best media for stripping heavy rusty parts?

- A: If you are blasting aluminum, plastic media, walnut shell, or glass beads are the best choices. These have a lower Mohs hardness, so the metal surface isn't devastated. For steel or iron, glass beads or aluminum oxide is a good choice, especially if you want to take it down to bare metal.4 years agoHelpful?

- A: It is slightly whitish. I have never used it on wood so I can’t give a definitive answer. This stuff is glass shards, so it might adhere to the fibers of the wood and give a weird sheen to the wood. But that is a guess only. I hear soda blasting is the way to go on wood. Q: Is this media favorable for stripping boat bottom. I assumed my boat bottom gel coat is no longer existed due to its age and layers and layers of paint.

- A: The glass product should work in this application. We suggest starting off with a lower blasting pressure to make sure it does not tear into the fiberglass hull of the boat. If it is not doing much with the layers of paint, then increase the pressure until you see that it is taking off the paint.7 years agoHelpful?

GLASS BEAD BLASTING

I work out of a large blast cabinet and have used six to seven different types of media.I have not found one yet that comes close to glass beads.They clean up better than any and leave a great finish. To be honest with you i don't think i will ever use any other media in my cabinet again. Its just not worth it. It takes a lot of work to clean out my cabinet and try a new media[ that someone tells me about] when the out come is no where near glass beads.....I don't sale glass beads or work for any company that does. Just a very satisfied customer.

NOT GLASS BEADS, This is CRUSHED glass.

Crushed glass, looks identical to super fine beach sand. It works well in a pressure blaster as long as you fine tune the valves. I had to dial down the tank pressure and final air output, otherwise it's such a fine material, you end up with too much coming out. This is maybe considered one use, but you can easily get a tarp and a backdrop, and collect a lot of it to reuse. My only issue is I wish it was a bit cheaper.

Bought this a week ago but was redoing my blast cabinet so I just opened today. I was first struck by how dirty it was. Then the smell hit me - like dirty sea water. I'd swear this is just beach sand - and not the pure white Aruba stuff either - maybe from a beach in New Jersey. It's going back ASAP. I was using Black Bull I'd bought several years back from TSC. Great stuff. Sad they changed suppliers.

This worked well for me for removing old powder coating, paint and rust from various steel parts. It flows well in TSC's cheapo cabinet. It was not as dusty as TSC's coal slag, but it is still VERY dusty. Wear a dust mask.

NOT glass bead. Price would be great if it was beads, but I can get crushed glass cheaper elsewhere. Using it, it cuts as good as fine sand on steel. Save your money for real beads if that's what you want for aluminum

Since switching to Black Bull glass abrasive, the finish on blasted parts has never been better. Glass beads leave a smooth finish whether replating or repainting a part. The price is right too !!!

I restore toys.I bought this product yeaterday and it works very well in cleaning and stripping paint also takes off old decal glue with ease.I have use other media,but I am going to clean out my cabinet and replace with this stuff.Another good part is the lack of dust.I use to get out of my shop looking like a coalminer.Not any more

I bought this and the job smart cabinet to remove rusting and slight pitting from some gun parts I was restoring. It works like a champ, removes all the contaminates, and leaves the parts clean and ready for re-bluing.
