Troy-Bilt over Toro

I had a gas and electric Toro trimmer that wa 20 years old and I could not find parts for it. TSC is right across the street from me and after talking with Stephanie at TSC I elected to buy the Troy-Bilt and it works great for me. I have only had it a couple of weeks and have had to restring it from using it so much but no problem. I am happy with my Troy-Bilt.

Not worth the money

Didn't have a year and now it wont work what a waste of 200 dollars. I thought there was a 2 year warranty on this item.

Starts hard but will start, runs seconds then dies

My TB252S stopped runing , refilled fuel, and not wanting to run anymore. It was running fine. Now i cranks and dies, like no fuel. I cleaned carb 3 times, replaced spark, changed gas. Its 2 years old. Took the gas cap apart, cleaned, not sure what suppose to be on the return gas line , or how it works but its only a short line going into the tank, could that be the problem? I got blasters from pulling this guy, sometimes it will run a few seconds. I am done , can yoy advise whtat to do?… thanks, oh i always use 40-1 best grade fuel mix.

Broke the first time I used it.

I had high hopes for this trimmer. The trimmer head broke, and the screw stripped out. Not repairable because of the design. I will just buy a new part and put this up for sale and get a Stihl.

Doesn’t work. It started and then quit - right out of the box. You can’t return it to Tractor Supply. Had to contact Troy Bilt and they want you to take to an authorized dealer, none of which are close to me, for diagnosis. If Tractor Supply sells, they should be able to take back.

Bought one almost a year ago. Right out of the box, after the 5th pull it drips gas all over the floor. Took it in for warranty and they put a new carb on it. Cold blooded and has a hard time starting. I've snapped 2 drive shafts already. First and only Troy Bilt item I will ever buy.

It started up fine, I was just getting to hang of it and the line broke. When I went to take the line assembly off bump knob would not turn. I tried using plyers and nothing. My wife took it back to where we got it and they couldn't get it loose. They gave me a refund because they didn't have another one in stock. Now I'm looking for a weed eater

Poor design for bump string head

I just got a brand new one and the bump string head doesn't work. I tried for hours to get the trim line to roll up and also feed out . I have been extremely frustrated. I cannot believe that Troy Bilt put this trimmer out to its consumer. I recommend to others to avoid this trimmer .

Overall this trimmer does the job & build quality is good. This replaced previous Troy-Bilt so I already had several attachments which is the primary reason I bought this one. What I don’t like is the gas tank is exceptionally small & mine didn’t come with a grip handle as pictured.

This trimmer is very easy to start and replace string. Feeds no problem. It is a perfect residential trimmer. I live in the country and it does bog down a little on tough pasture grass. But still gets even tough jobs done. I’m a 59yr old out of shape lady but manage it just fine.

Bought it a month ago but travel all the time. Finally tried starting it last weekend and good luck. Most days no matter how hard I try it won’t start. Leaks gas out of the air filter and exhaust. Directions tell you it takes 15 pulls to start.

Refueled the trimmer I had it full throttle after the refueling for about 6 seconds something in the trimmer jumped and would not start back up took out the spark plug zero spark from the ignition system very disappointed

Went to try and change out the string and the bump head was stuck on and then broke. The square bolt is seized as well so it's trash and theres only one shop that does the warranty work and it's across the town

I received the Troy-Bilt 17 in 25cc 2 Cycle Gas Straight Shaft String Trimmer, it was undamaged and everything was in the box! It was easy to put together, I mixed the oil that was included with fresh gas, filled the tank. It started with no problem's! It works very well!
