Q&As

11 - 20 of 54 Questions

Q: Is 16% enough for layers?

1 Answer
  • A: For laying hens the protein level should be 16% for laying hens. The only time they will need more protein is when they are molting then it jumps 17%% during the molt period which is 6 weeks. They also need less calcium during this period so we recommend an all flock type of feed that is higher protein and less calcium.

Q: How much do you feed per chicken

1 Answer
  • A: On average, a laying hen eats about ¼-pound of feed per day or 1.5 pounds of feed per week. If you're buying a 50-pound bag of feed, it would feed your chicken for about 33 weeks. If you have four hens in your flock, eating about 6 pounds of feed a week, you'll go through a 50-pound bag of feed about every 8 weeks.

Q: My fred had several chunks about 6 in in size. And lots of pellets were green in color I threw most of it away. Hopefully my hens won’t get sick since my kids had already fed them by the time I noticed it

Not the best feed I've used

Since I've been using this feed, my chicken have been eating not more than 20 percent of their regular feed intake, and laying between 2 to 4 eggs a day compared to 7 to 9. I ended up following a friend's advice and mixing the remaining bags of feed that I had with cracked corn, which had slightly increased their appetite and started getting 5-7 eggs a day.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Not satisfied

The quality of this product has not been satisfactory this last purchase. I used Dumor in the past because it was better than the other brand that sells there. There is a lot more of what I call feed dust. Approx 3 cups. I was getting less than that in the yellow bag brand. Not sure where the quality of this product has shifted, but I am disappointed. The only way I will purchase this Dumor is if I am out of other options. To be clear, this was not a bag that had been sitting at the bottom of the stack, it was a new pallet of product.

No, I do not recommend this product.
