Q&As

1 - 7 of 7 Questions

Q: Can be used in the Septic pipe

1 Answer
  • A: Thank you for your question. Yes, it can be used to help clear clogs in accessible septic drain lines, provided the pipe is at least 1/2 in. in diameter and the clog is within the auger's 50 ft. reach. However, it is not intended for clearing the septic tank itself or the drain field. Use care to avoid damaging the pipe, and if the clog cannot be cleared, contact a septic professional.

Q: Will it snake around a 90 degree angle?

1 Answer
  • A: The THEWORKS 1/2 in. x 50 ft. Drain Auger (PL171209) is designed to navigate tight bends and curves in pipes ranging from 2 to 4 inches in diameter. While its high-carbon spring wire provides flexibility for most standard household plumbing, its ability to successfully clear a 90-degree angle depends on the pipe size and the specific configuration of the elbow.

  • A: Hi KDorff, Thanks for your question. This is the heavy Duty auger from TheWorks company and would damage your porcelain toilet. We do carry this auger that is specifically for toilets. THEWORKS 3 ft Toilet Drain Auger, Reusable, Nonslip Handle, PL171205 SKU: 142237199 $7.99

  • A: Hi Van69, Thanks for the question. You could always use a metal splicer. But doing so would void the warranty on this product.

Black handle Metal Holder is basically worthless.

Cable is strong and quite capable of doing the job, however the black handle Metal holder is basically worthless because the handles are not fixed to the metal and allows it to slip. The only solution is to take the handles off and use the twisted Bar.

Can't snake it through a low flow toilet

I purchased this to snake out our low flow toilet. The head looks like the short toilet snakes, so I thought I could get it through the toilet and out into the sewer line and clean out the sludge that seems to have accumulated on the walls of the line which slows the flush. I know it should not be used this way since it can discolor the porcelain bowI, but I was using some lengths of garden hose to protect the porcelain, like the short snake is designed. It would not feed into the toilet. No matter how I put my hands down in and tried to guide it, I could not get the head in more than a few inches. I think it seems well-made and will keep it with my tools for other projects, but It didn't work as I had hoped.
