Not worth a crap

Awful. Last for a year at max before they rust and fall apart completely. Doors don't work like there supposed to unless they are set up with astronomical precision. Not very expandable because it get unstable and flimsy. Once the rust starts it won't contain anything.

The 2 x 6 spaces allow my dog to use jaws to bend and break the wires. The bottom of the panels should be 2 x2 or 2x3. Very disappointed in the durability and quality. Afyer contacting the manufacturer I bought a replacement panel and same thing happened.

Great kennel system expands well. I have over 30 of f these. I have to rearrange them on occasion to suit my needs. I have the roof assemblies as well as the shades. At one time they were reasonably priced.

We purchased several of these dog pen kits from retriever at Tractor Supply. We’ve had them less than three years and we used them indoors and a covered area above ground. They have rusted so badly the bottom tubes falling off, the door hinges, especially on the bottom have rotted through indoors have fell out. And then we find out that’s only a one year warranty regardless.
I would never suggest purchasing these if you want long-term use.

This is the poorest quality metal dog pen I have ever bought and I am so deeply disappointed with this product. I wish I could give this pen 1/2 a star or less.
The quality of the metal was incredibly inferior and feels like it'll fall apart while you're putting it together. It's light, cheaply painted and the pen grates/walls are very flimsy. The grates are welded onto the metal tube framing vs going through the tube framing (we bought this exact pen 4 years ago and they placed the wire grate through the tube frame to make it sturdier). If you have small dogs or dogs that you know will not push up against this fence, whether to lie down against it or just test it, then you might be able to get away with this. Even so, it's a very expensive product for such poor materials. Another issue we had is when we picked up the fencing, there was rust already forming at various corners of the pens. This was just from sitting in storage, so image what it will look like after a dog has been in it for some time. Overall, I am very unhappy with this purchase and I highly recommend that you look elsewhere. This is a high price for a cheap and unreliable product. If we didn't need it immediately, I would return the pens. Do not waste your money on these pens.

Bought this kennel on 09/05/2026. I’m very pleased with it. The welds are good, frame sturdy. It was wrapped in plastic when I bought it at the Tractor Supply Store in Lolo, Montana. Hardware came with it. Says it is made in the USA. Purchased this for use inside during the winter while I’m out for a few hours a day.
Want to give a shout out to the fork lift driver that loaded this in my horse trailer, he is an awesome guy!! Great job loading it and really pleasant to work with.
If you are thinking about getting one of these, go to the store and look at it like I did. Check the quality and such.

I am extremely disappointed, I’ve purchased retriever Kennels for many years now. They have always been very well made, durable and long lasting. However the new version is very cheaply made and will not last. The wires and very thin and already bending with no support beam across each panel like the previous version. The hardware that hold the panels together are like an aluminum material. I will be returning this kennel very disappointing.

I have purchased over 50 of the Retriever "Lodge" kennels and 7 of this model of kennel. This one (although the same price as the "Lodge" kennel) is of cheap quality and subpar construction compared to the Lodge kennel I've purchased so many times from TSC in the past. The welding is horrible, and the wire is welded to the outside of the panel not in the middle so it has sharp wire edges poking around the entire perimeter. The door latch is cheap, galvanized metal and not the anodized one that the Lodge has. There are no support bars across the panels, which makes it super flimsy. The brackets are cheap galvanized metal of a poor quality compared to the Lodge model. In conclusion, it's the same price but much cheaper quality and materials than the Lodge model. I'm very disappointed in my purchase.

Much much cheaper quality. And the same price, if not more expensive. Every part of these is cheaper in comparison to the other ones, down to the hardware. Also don’t worry they all come with a slight bend in the metal as well.

This is a replacement for the "Retriever Lodge Dog Kennel" that TSC has sold for many years. The quality isn't nearly as good, and yet they have increased the price. This kennel lacks the center horizontal support bar that is needed when housing larger dogs. It also has a smaller gate and lighter weight steel. Very disappointing.

They changed the manufacturer—— and quality of design has plummeted!
Seeing this in person there are big differences!
I have FIVE of the original kennels, and went to purchase another one. The main difference is that they lost the middle support. The welds aren’t as secure.
They’ve taken out the panel with the quarter that’s removable, so now the former dog house accessory can not be attached to the kennel.
Anyhowx with one glance there is a BIG difference between the original and the new version, loss of quality..
A Great Pyrenees or any determined dog could work hard enough and push the panel out of this new version of the kennel.
Going to have to source these used. I wasn’t going to buy the new version. The panel was bowing out on the display—- without the mid support, that’s just going to happen.
They really shot themselves in the foot with this change!

Junk. TSC Should Be Ashamed Selling This.

Total junk; especially in comparison to the older model (of which I have several). Cheaper materials, substandard design, poorly manufactured. Connection clamps and hardware are also substandard. Previous model looked classy. This model looks classless.
There is literally nothing about this kennel that would make me recommend it. Too much of a hassle to return (especially since I needed it ASAP). Thought I would be getting the old Retriever kennel; what I got wasn't even a pale imitation of it.
Very, very disappointed in TSC.
1 star. A $100 kennel being sold at $500. A total joke (and, sadly, that joke was on me) Would NOT recommend.

I have purchased four of these in the last 2 years. They've been great kennels and that's why I keep purchasing more but the one I bought last month is not like the other three. The center brace bar that makes it so sturdy is no longer part of the design, each individual panel is significantly lighter and flimsier than the other ones, even the clamps are made of cheaper and more flimsy metal. The new junkie design is the same price as the previous ones, it's just a significantly lower quality product

Just got delivered and going back tomorrow. These are not the same as they were a year ago. Cheaply made, wire is just tack welded on the tube will never hold up. Disappointed to say the least and wasted delivery money. Called and they switched manufacturers but kept the same name. Won’t be using retriever brand anymore.

I bought this to put protect my pond's overflow from being accessible to beavers. Beavers hear the water running and try stopping it. This should be sturdy enough to keep them at bay. Looks like it's well built and may last.

I’ve always bought this brand. Since they’ve stopped doing the middle support it’s become less durable. The welding is not as strong as it used to be. They even changed the hardware too cheap metal. It bends. These used to be made strong and reliable. That’s why I always paid the extra money for this brand. Extremely disappointed.
