Q: Is this just a rod or is there another piece on them like in one of the pictures?

1 Answer
  • A: This product is a solid, smooth fiberglass rod. It does not include additional pieces like insulators or clips, though it is compatible with most wire, tape, and rope. For electric fencing, using screw-on insulators is recommended.

high quality post

These fiberglass posts really hold up well over time when exposed to sun and weather. I used several hundred of them to run electric fencing and they look as good as the day I bought them. I use J-hook and screw-on insulators with them and even with heavy tightening, these posts do not crack or splinter. Fiberglass posts without UV inhibitors turn brittle and crack very quickly when exposed to sunlight. If you want to avoid replacing posts every other year, these are the posts for you.

Great new, later not so much

I purchased two dozen of these items, not for electric fence, but to hold up my gladiolus and other tall-growing flowers. My gladiolus have now withered and I need to bring in the bulbs, so I started to pull the stakes. Yeeeow! I was wearing fabric work gloves, but when my hand slid up the rod, shards of the tiny glass fibers broke off the outside of the rod, came through my gloves and penetrated my fingers. I live in southern Georgia, and I suspect the strong sun that we have here might have degraded the outer surface of the rods, allowing the individual fibers to become detached. I still plan to keep using these rods, but not before I have tried sealing them all with a substantial coat of polyurethane - or maybe even fiberglass resin. And for sure I'll be wearing heavy leather gloves next time! Overall I am pleased with the item, and they were priced at decent value - but this situation sure needs attention, either by the user, or ideally, by the manufacturer.

Great quality and price

This worked out perfectly for what I was doing even though it wasn't the intended usage. I needed something to thread through the end of a welded wire fence so I would be able to attach and remove it from a t post easily so I didn't have to make an actual walk through gate. The fiberglass rod was easy to work with and is holding up great so far. Another plus for this product is that it is perfectly smooth...no splintering or rough spots.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great quality & low price driveway markers.

These are perfect for driveway markers during winter months. I spray paint the top 6" inches after driving them into the ground. Use a bright color of your choice, so they are visible when it snows. Great price and I get several years usage. Don't buy "official thin driveway markers". Save money and DIY with these fiberglass rods.

Fiberglass rods used for frost protection

I use the fiberglass rods to help build frost-proof tunnels for my rows of cut flowers. The rods stabilize the bent metal conduit hoops. I appreciate the help at TS. I order online and they help carry the 170 fiberglass rods to my car. Saves me a lot of time.

Worked, but would be better with notches or catches to anchor wire against. The smooth surface made spacing and tying the field wire more difficult .

Perfect For Garden Use!

I bought 10 of these fiberglass fence posts for my garden, to use for tomato stakes. The post is basic and does the job, so really not much to review about it. For the price, and my use, it was a great choice. I would buy these posts again, and likely will, as I expect they'll last for several years and they're perfect for what I'm using them for.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Very good quality. Couldn't be happier.

Very good item for what I used it for. They are the spreaders on a 6 meter antenna. They bend (a little) but do not break. They keep the tension on the wire part of the antenna. Drill through easy.

Fiberglass rods as garden markers

The rods are good as garden markers and plant supports. I’ve used them for more than 30 years. Four foot rods can be cut in 2 or more pieces. They are extremely durable. After years of looking for them in our area I finally found them at … Tractor Supply!

A rod with multiple uses.

I originally purchased a number of these rods to use as posts for an electric fence. The rod was an ideal size for the plastic clamp on insulators used to attach the wire. The quality of the material and the way the rod was made is ideal. Anyway, when I took down the electric fence I noticed that the rod was a good size to use as a support for immature trees. I have been purchasing them and using them for tree support rods ever since. These rods are very good and I will certainly purchase them again as I need more.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great for garden stakes

These are great for garden stakes, they won't rust and break like those green metal ones big box stores sell. But wear gloves when handling them, the dust from the fiberglass can irritate your skin.

TSC always has something you can repurpose!

A windstorm damaged my ground blind breaking the fiberglass tension rods. The manufacturer did not have the replacement parts in stock, but after a quick search I found these available at my local TSC. I purchase three of them online for curbside pickup, went home trimmed them to length and solved my problem quick and cheap!

Awesome replacement for deer blind

I broke a support pole on my Brick house deer blind last year and needed to fix it for deer season. This rod was the perfect diameter and I trimmed it to size. Works perfectly. Bought two so if it happens again I can replace it quickly. Only other rods I found lots more expensive. These are great!

Needed some sturdy fiberglass rods to put up a 3’ netting barrier of netting to keep small wildlife off and out of my lawn. The rods wove easily into the netting and supported the netting nicely after pushing the rods approximately 12 into the ground. So far, so good!
