It breaks up nicely in small flakes. Easy to feed. Less mess because it's wrapped. Will buy again.

Rocks all through the hay as if they were trying to add weight to it. Highly disappointed!

I bought the alfalfa/orchard grass compressed bale by mistake because it had been stocked where the timothy hay compressed bale was supposed to be. I've used almost a third of it and feed in a solid bottom manger. So far a its been laced with rocks. Yes, rocks. About a cup full so far. So for $27 I bought a pound of rocks.

My 2 horses love it. I stopped going to a supplier 100 miles away because of consistency. For the most part this hay is consistent. It is all eaten up at every meal. I have had a few bales with mold but Tractor Supply exchanged them or refunded me. I do have a problem at times getting it as they can't keep it in stock.

I have a 31 yr old mare who wastes local alfalfa hay. I have been using Standlee hay for quite a while now and am so satisfied with it and so is she. :)

I weighed these bales after noticing they seemed lighter than 50 lbs. Out of 4 bales, they ranged from 44-48 lbs. Costing $20 + /bale and advertising 50 lb weight, disappointing. Additionally, hay is looking more yellow/gray and even in the middle of winter my horse is leaving much of it uneaten.

Bought for my chicken coop during the winter months and my chickens loved it. It comes tightly packed but are sheets. I put a few in the coop and a few in the run. They loved scratching thru it and loved the treat hidden in it. Added nice insulation during our ice storm. Will buy again!

My horses love the hay.,,They eat it before they eat their grain. It’s expensive but worth the extra money to ensure quality.

I buy this from time to time for my sheep when the regular bales of hay are out. This is a thicker hay and there is a lot of left over and uneaten bits they can’t seem to eat.

This is a staple in my barn, reliable high quality easy to feed alfalfa at a great price.

A little more stalky orchard grass than alfalfa and quite dusty but the natural alfalfa in hay barns are so stalky right now that this will do. The horses are rejecting Texas Bermuda and alfalfa 2 string bales and will eat this compressed forage. Be careful to weigh your portions so you don’t overfeed and some may choose to soak flakes due to dust. Frankly, all the Standlee compressed bales are dusty and my recent purchase of the Alfalfa compressed bales consisted of browner, stalkier mix versus prior satisfactory orders of nice green forage, even if dusty. I’ll be watching to see if Standlee is starting to cheat on their all alfalfa compressed bales by mixing too much of Timothy or Orchard long stalks in with a supposedly 100% alfalfa bale. I suggest you cut one open upon your pick up at Tractor Supply. I took pictures and will be keeping a log. I have seniors who can’t masticate the stalks that’s why I am particular about my alfalfa. I’ve had some misunderstandings this past month with online ordering and its complexities including: your online order may suddenly be cancelled because the stock count is not good at the store or the clerk sells your item to a retail customer; there are “in stock” items, feed truck delivery items and some which come special order Fed X. All three have different pick up rules and deadlines. I’ve had to use customer service twice this month to get orders straightened out. Dakota and Patrick are two excellent reps in customer service HOWEVER their web master needs to figure out how to keep the online customer informed and the deliveries/deadlines fully notified by text for each method of purchase whether “in stock,” “coming on this week’s feed truck,” or “special order handled by Fed X.”

My horses have enjoyed this variety and the other 2 varieties of standlee compressed bales. They are handy for treats or between hay deliveries. I can move them in the trunk of my car.

This isn’t the first time I’ve gotten this grab n go with more than average amounts of dirt and rocks in it. I leave a couple of handfuls of it out for my oldest horse because I have a lot of sand here instead of grass. I.grabbed some out this evening and lots of dirt and rocks.. I quit buying it for a while thinking it was just a bad batch. Apparently not.

This hay is always good ans there is zero waste.
