Premium Orchard Grass Grab & Go Compressed Bales are formed by allowing Standlee Premium Western Forage to grow to the proper stage of maturity, cutting the plants, allowing them to sun-cure (dry) to an acceptable moisture level and baling the forage at the optimal time. Standlee Premium Western Forage creates compressed bales of forage from a large 4'x4'x8' bale that is put through a press, sliced horizontally, pushed onto a scale, weighed, compressed and then banded. Orchard Grass forage is typically slightly higher in protein and calories compared to Timothy and can be moderate to high in sugar content. Forages are non-perishable and can last for long periods of time if stored properly. Always store forages in a cool, dry and well-ventilated area. As long as the product is properly stored, forages can last for well over a year or more. Available in 50 pound bales.

On average, most horses comfortably consume 2% of their body weight in dry forage per day. This equates to 20 lbs of dry forage per day for a 1000 lb horse. Standlee recommends that you weigh the amount of forage provided to each horse to ensure you are feeding the proper amount. This is especially important with baled and compressed forage since similar volumes of forage (a flake for example) vary in weight. Standlee also recommends cutting the bands on compressed bales and allowing the bale to expand overnight to avoid overfeeding. Feed Standlee Premium Western Baled or Standlee Premium Western Compressed Forage at a minimum rate of 1.5% of body weight. Gradually increase or decrease the amount of forage to maintain desired body condition. Never feed moldy or insect infested forage to horses. Always provide free-access to fresh, clean water.

I love this hay!!!

I am completely satisfied and absolutely thrilled with the value and quality of this hay! It smells fresh and my herd is excited to eat. The length of the blades of this hay is perfect! So many other brands have short, dusty bits, but these hay blades are long and fresh! I love the way it’s compressed, making it easier to store and I’m not left with so much packaging waste.
Most of all, i get this high quality feed product for half the price of a lesser quality brand!!

There is so much hay and dust in this Hey that I am afraid to give any more of it to my Guinea pigs as they have sensitive respiratory issues and the dust can affect their lungs There are also quite a few rocks in it I shook as much dust as I can from the Hey but it's still really dusty

The hay was great quality. However, my complaint is not being able to have the product shipped to a Tractor Supply Store without having to pay a shipping fee; especially when the store I use, carries Standlee hay in Alfalfa, Alfalfa/Orchard, and Timothy. The store I use is : Store #1904.

1 star is for tractor supply. Not for this product. On multiple occasions they will let you use a reward for free shipping to store, order a product, and then they'll completely cancel an order without a reason. Also why not shock up a local store with product people constantly order online to be delivered to store?

I bought this for the last several months to feed my Cushings/Insulin Resistance 20 year old QH gelding with expiring teeth. He lost his winter hair good and his spring coat came in really dark, shiny. He's holding his weight good and eating well.

Horrible quality in the last bale

The last bale I picked up and opened at home is of wretched quality. It’s actually sent one of my rabbits into borderline stasis it’s so dusty and choppy. It’s like shale. There are no pieces longer than 3 inches. Horrible. Unfortunately we will not be purchasing hay from TS anymore and will be sticking to bedding only.

Very dusty, short chopped straw and hay

2 stars as rabbit feed specifically.
The previous bale was maybe 20% dust and 0 to 4 inch straw, but this last bale is more like 30% short chop and dust, and much more thick dry straw than blades of grass. Very little is over 8 inches long.
We won't get this again for our rabbits, it's not worth the time to sort out the acceptable grass.

I tried to order Hay at my local tractors supply and some how ended up with an order that was very far from me. It was then difficult to get it cancelled. I had thought it was cancelled and now I am getting this email asking me how I liked the situation.
Fundamentally, ordering stuff online from tractor supply is dicey. You need to change how this process works so it is very clear for customers.

I've ordered this hay over 2 times in the past, but I will never purchase this again. The quality was terrible this time around!! Pieces are EXTREMELY hard, & filled with seed heads. Quality has been fine up to this point, so disappointed. My guinea pigs won't even touch it. $30 down the drain. Don't be mislead by the cheap price compared to other bales. Pay for quality.

I have gotten this orchard hay for almost a year. The last two 50 lbs bales have not even lasted us a month which normally they last two months. They bales the last two orders have also had a lot of waxy thick hay pieces that resemble oat hay.

I've bought this before and gotten lush, green, albeit dusty hay. The lady tone is bought it the whole bale was brown and my rabbit wouldn't eat it. Fewer and fewer tractor supply locations in my area are even carrying it so having to go an hour away to get it, and an hour back the next day to return it is so inconvenient I'm just not going to buy it anymore.
