The SportDOG Brand Contain + Train system is designed to provide all of the current containment capabilities of our In-Ground Fence (SDF-100A,) combined with the remote training capabilities of our popular FieldTrainer 425 (SD-425,) allowing owners to secure their dogs within set boundaries, and train both inside those boundaries at home, and in the field. The collar receiver is waterproof and submersible to 10 ft., and the remote transmitter is waterproof and submersible to 25 ft. using our patented DryTek technology.

- A: This is a great question! The battery life of the receiver collar will be dependent on how you are using it. If used in Training mode or Contain & Train mode, the unit will need to be recharged every 2-3 weeks on average. If used in Containment mode only, the receiver collar unit will only need to be charged every few months. Please keep in mind this collar should be removed from your dog daily; we do not recommend exceeding 12 hours of use per day. Awesome System!

I bought this for our new 1.5 acre home. I installed this myself with no issues and our dog Cooper now is free to roam around the yard. Training has been going great with him and I feel very secure with how the fence has been containing him.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Contain & Train does not work with the 100C

I bought the 100C containment system and an additional collar. Training was difficult because the collar beep is all but inaudible. So I bought the Contain & Train so I could manually add a tone correction while walking the dog around the perimeter. The transmitter and C&T collar work fine together but do not sense a signal from the already installed 100C system. This is a foolish engineering oversight.

We're so sorry for this confusion on which collars are compatible with which systems, and on how these systems operate.
It is crucial to mention, first, that no additional tone is needed beyond the collar's automatic tone. Though it may seem hard to hear or be fully inaudible for some customers, this does not change how effective it is for our dogs to hear. As dogs hear both much better than us and at higher ranges, the pitch and tone on our collars are designed to be optimized for their ears rather than human ears.
This is one of the reasons we recommend using the test light tool to set flags for the boundary- this way, you will know without needing to hear it that if your dog reaches the point of the flags, the collar is providing the tone. You can then encourage your dog to turn back toward you using praise and high value treats, etc. In this way, the tone does not need to be heard by handlers during training for the dog to be taught to assign meaning to the tone.
As different systems do have different compatibility, we do always recommend either checking compatibility under product information, or contacting our live support team to confirm if an item is compatible before purchase. Easy to install. Works great

Had a problem with my old dog wandering off occasionally. I bought to keep her in when I am gone. She hasn't left the yard. It is equivalent quality to a invisible fence brand but you have to install yourself, or have your landscaper do it for a couple bucks. Took about 2 hours.
