Q&As

1 - 5 of 5 Questions

Q: Will this make the deck slick or slippery

1 Answer
  • A: All water proofers, including Seal-Once, repel water. Water sitting on top of wood will be slippery. I like to use 3M non-skid strips and apply to strategic areas

Q: Can this sealer be applied using a pump up sprayer

1 Answer
  • A: Hi Neighbor! Yes, you can apply this sealer using a sprayer, but you must immediately back brush the area while it is still wet. Brushing is necessary to push the product into the wood for better penetration. Reviewers also note that the sealer applies smoothly when using a sprayer.

Q: Can this product be used in the spray gun? And if so, how far is the over spray before it dries?

1 Answer
  • A: If you spray or roll, you must immediately brush the area you just rolled or sprayed using a traditional paint brush. It is called back brushing. Brushing is very important. The brush pushes the product into the wood for better penetration. Do not spray or roll and leave it to dry, it must be back brushed. Example of how to coat a deck or fence using Seal-Once: If you spray or roll, you must immediately back brush the area. You begin at the end of two boards. You will brush to the other end of the same two boards. Now apply a second coat to the same 2 boards. Apply the second coat within 5-10 minutes of the first coat. The second coat must be applied while the first coat is still wet. (Wet on wet application). Push the product into the wood with the brush. Spread it out evenly. Do not allow it to puddle. Wipe off any excess with a rag.

Great product for any type of wood

I used this on outdoor wood and was impressed with how easy it was to apply. It soaked into the wood nicely without leaving a thick film and helped bring out the natural color. The finish looks clean and protected, and I'm excited to see how it holds up over time

Great wood seal!

Great product! Photo shows the top board, which has been treated with this seal and the lower board which is untreated. The seal went on easy and really brightened up the boards it was applied to.
