- A: Hello. When making an application of Scotts Patchmaster Lawn Repair Mix Tall Fescue Mix, traffic may resume on the lawn once seeds have become firmly established. We recommend that heavy traffic stay off the newly seeded areas until the third or fourth mowing. This product is simply seed fertilizer and a paper mulch. There should be no harm if the pet walks through the area.a year agoHelpful?

Waste of money

Put it down following directions three weeks ago. Not a single new sprout from two bags worth of product. Kept it moist and even covered bare spots with straw. Complete waste of money.

For Cool Season Grasses (Bluegrass, Ryegrass, and Fescue) Soil temperatures must be at least 55°F (+12.7°C) for grass seed to germinate. The warmer the soil, the faster the germination. This generally requires daytime temperatures consistently in the 65+°F (18.3°C) range for cool season grasses, and 80+°F (27+°C) for warm season grasses.
In the spring it takes a lot of consistent warm temperatures to warm up the soil, especially in the northern states. Cool night-time temperatures and fluctuating temperatures will slow germination. Cold weather will delay germination but will not hurt the seed.

Pleasantly surprised and greatly satisfied!

I was initially concerned by the negative product reviews and scaled-back my initial use but am extremely pleased with the results. I wonder if any/many of the negative reviews resulted from failing to notice the instruction to thoroughly shake the bag to eliminate the settling that could occur in storage and/or transit? I took that to heart and shake the heck (maybe a bit harder) our of that bag even between uses.

I bought this 17 days ago , loosen the soil and watered daily and did not get any germination. It was though there was no seed in the bag

This grass seed will germinate best when temperatures are consistently in the 65-80 degree F range. Cool nighttime temperatures and fluctuating temperatures will slow germination. Both excessive moisture and not enough moisture can inhibit seed germination.

A great repair kit

Filled in my bare spots nicely and quickly! I would use this again because of our very large dog and the damage he does to our lawn. Just do a little cultivating to loosen the soil, cover, and water well and regularly.
