Show rabbits should be limit fed approximately 1/2 ounce per pound of body weight per day to maintain lustrous fur and maintain body condition. Feeding rate may need to be adjusted for desired body condition. Nursing does and their litters should be free fed. Lactating does will consume 1 to 3 ounces per pound of body weight per day. Gradually increase the amount fed from the time of kindling so at the time the litter is one week old the doe is consuming all of the feed she will eat. This formula will support an average of 5 breeding cycles annually, while encouraging consistent reproduction of does and healthy, rapid growth of bunnies. Mature rabbits should be limit fed approximately 2 to 5 ounces per day to maintain a trim and fit condition.
Caution: Store in a dry, well-ventilated area protected from rodents and insects. Do not feed moldy or insect-infested feed to animals as it may cause illness, performance loss or death. USE ONLY AS DIRECTED

- A: The largest differences are the percents of protein,.fat, fiber, etc. Visit purina mills to see the nutritional values for each. Our Netherlands Dwarves (pets) came from a North Texas breeder who first shows them, then sells them to other breeders or as pets. He feeds a 1/4 cup of Compete (not Show) and "all the hay they can eat." He specifically told us to avoid higher fats and sugars for adult rabbits, and find a feed with minimum alfalfa because of this (and do not feed alfalfa hay). We're following his advice for 3+ years and our rabbits remain very healthy, holding their weight at 3 pounds. Note he did not say to avoid Show chow, just that it offered no extra benefit at a higher price.5 years agoHelpful?

DAILY FEEDING AMOUNT* Small Breed (2–3 lbs) 2–3 oz per day Large Breed (6–10 lbs) 4–10 oz per day Medium Breed (3–6 lbs) 3–7 oz per day Giant Breed (10+ lbs) 6–12+ oz per day *Control feed rabbits during first three months of life to avoid digestive upsets. Adult pet rabbits tend to overeat and lose body condition by becoming too heavy. Therefore, adjust the feeding rate to maintain a desired weight. Does will need more food (even full feed if her litter is large) to maintain body condition during lactation. Check weight and body condition of rabbits regularly. Whenever rabbits are changed from one feeding program to another, it should be done over a five- to- seven day period to avoid digestive upsets. During this time, mix the new food with the old, gradually increasing the amount of the new food while decreasing an equal amount of the old. Length of shelf life depends on the conditions of storage after the product is manufactured. Cooler temperatures and lower humidity will be the best storage conditions. The product should be free of mold and insects, it should have a nice aroma and it should also be palatable to the animal. So far so good! I just switched my rabbitry over to this brand and the first impression has been wonderful. Good clean pellets, NO DUST, rabbits finish their food. I dont have to feed as much per day because the rabbits are satisfied easier.

A lot of corn found

I’ve been buying show for years and my last 20 bags have had corn. Can’t get replacement because all the replacements have also had corn. But this month even the “dust” has been ungodly amounts, every 4 cups has been 1/3 cup dust.
I’ve been raising rabbits for 20 years and corn free has always been best for the rabbits guts. Plus I’ve never had this much trouble with purina feed. And I’m not alone. I’m a ARBA breeder and talk to hundreds of breeders every few days, and a lot of us are all seeing and having the same issues.
We should be able to trust the product label. These animals are our family and life and we want what’s best for them.

We raise show quality mini Rex and Polish for national exhibition. Purina show has a tag that reads as I would like but the bonus is that the rabbits themselves enjoy the food. In a taste test trial with 6 different feed options. This came in consistently in the top 2.

Purina Show Rabbit Feed is what we feed our chinchillas, and it keeps them healthy and in excellent condition. We appreciated it being delivered so quickly to our door since it is difficult for my husband and me to lift 50 lbs. out of our car and carry it to the house. I've known several rabbits who developed gastrostasis and died as a direct result of eating Purina rabbit food products. I purchased a bag of this food recently to show the significant differences in quality between brands, and this brand ranks lowest. I will never feed Purina to any of my rabbits, show or athletic.

It might be OK for the price

It isn't as fresh-looking as other brands I've bought and the dust content is much higher. I haven't used it long enough to determine how the rabbits do on this feed. I ordered it because the food I was getting for them was getting difficult to obtain. I am just using this as a filler feed in case of supply issues with another food I am using as my main supply.
