Q: Can this, or another of your systems be used with a cat?

1 Answer
  • A: Hello! Thank you for your question. We do offer a system specifically for cats, you can find it here https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/petsafe-premium-in-ground-cat-fence-1181803?isInternalSearch=written The PetSafe In-Ground Pet Fence will also work for a cat, however, we recommend using the cat collar which can be purchased separately if the intent is using it for a dog as well. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/petsafe-deluxe-in-ground-cat-fence-receiver-collar-1181804?isInternalSearch=written

Q: Is the battery rechargeable?

1 Answer
  • A: Thank you for this fabulous question! The receiver collar in this In-Ground Fence kit is not rechargeable. The battery will need to be replaced every 1-3 months depending on use. If you would like a receiver collar that is rechargeable, we would recommend the Rechargeable In-Ground Receiver Collar (model #PIG00-13737).

Q: Can you use on a third of an acre and the dogs still have room to run and play?

1 Answer
  • A: Great question! With this traditional style In-Ground Pet Fence, it is important to keep in mind that the collar will begin to warn and correct your dog about 3ft away from the wire at a minimum. For smaller yards, to get the most play area possible we would recommend using our YardMax In-Ground Pet Fence instead as the warning/correction will not start until they are right at the wire. For further assistance with our fencing options, please feel free to call us at 1-800-732-2677.

Q: If I were to run the wire in pvc pipe would it still need to be buried?

1 Answer
  • A: Thanks for your question! We recommend to bury the wire 2-4" deep, since exposure to the elements will leave it more susceptible to damage. With that being said, burying the wire is not necessary, especially if it will be protected by PVC pipe!

Best thing since sliced bread!

If you own a dog or dogs, an in-ground electric fence is a must. We own 3 beagles and they used to be on chains all day long. What a mess. Now, they can run in our backyard all day long and have fun. It is very comforting to know that the dogs are happy and safe! The training went extremely well-the dogs picked up on the fence in no time at all. Plus, installation was a breeze. We had existing post and rail wooden fencing around the backyard and was able to use that to attach the fence to without digging a trench. We ended up doing very little digging. I would highly recommend this product!

Stuff they don't tell ya

Well bought this fence about 3 weeks ago. Thought it'll be pretty easy to install. Well reading the manual there's all these do's and don't's that the don't show on the box or reviews or anything till after you buy it. Also it's not a do it yourself project. Wire is all lose and gets tangled pretty easy when your doing it alone. Gonna need someone to help you. And if you are putting in a big yard then good luck to ya. I've done rented a flower bed shaper just to dig up the ground because it was so hard and rocky. Well needless to say the wire is still not in the ground just because I haven't found anyone to help. It may work and we love it but for right now, all it is is a big headache.

Great product. I've been needing this for my new pet German Shepard. I recently lost my dog to an accident after she escaped the yard. I had to put her down because the injuries were so severe. But now with this in ground fence my dog will be protected. It is user friendly too.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Hi Barb! Thank you for your review, we do value our customer feedback immensely!

These are considered do-it-yourself containment systems, and they can take a bit of time to install depending on the size of your yard or property area. We do understand that everyone has busy lives and it is sometimes difficult to make time to install an in-ground system. That being said, we would love to help you figure out what system will be best for you and your dog! For installation and product assistance, please reach out to us at 1-800-732-2677. PetSafe
