Q: Do you sell replacements of the water jug itself? It got damaged but the base is fine.

Q: How deep is the bowl of the water bowl portion? Was hoping it would be deep enough to use as a waterer for ducks, who need it deep enough for submerge their nares.

However, we do offer other style watering bowls on our website at www.petmate.com that may be better suited for your needs. Please visit our website at the link above for more information. Q: Is this dishwasher safe?
5 years ago1 Answer
- A: Thank you for your inquiry. This item is not dishwasher safe. We always recommend a solution of vinegar/water and dawn dish soap. You can let the item soak overnight in the vinegar and water, then use the Dawn Dish soap the next morning, scrubbing all the crevices with a bottle bush (like a baby bottle brush). Please don't forget to rinse it out really well so there is no vinegar or soap left in the bottle. Sincerely, Petmate Consumer Services5 years agoHelpful?
Q: is this supposed to have a filter inside? I had the same problem where it empties to the very brim of the bowl
6 years ago1 Answer
- A: No, this unit does no come with a filter.6 years agoHelpful?
Q: I just bought a new 1 gallon Le Bistro waterer. The entire gallon empties out instead of draining as needed. I had the previous model and it did not do this. Does the floor need to be level?
9 years ago1 Answer
- A: Yes, the floor surface should be level for the product to work correctly. Also, check to make sure the cap on the bottle is attached properly and that the bottle is aligned into the base correctly. We also suggest checking to make sure that you do not have the feeder instead of the waterer. These look very similar are sometimes grabbed in error.9 years agoHelpful?

Water Trapped in the Base Promotes Mildew and Mold
5 years ago
I bought this waterer last month and had no problems with it until this week when my dog refused to drink from it. It had a distinct musty odor to it.
I had been cleaning the bowl and base every water fill-up with no problem; but I noticed that the double-wall baffle around the mounting point for the bottle allowed water to spill into the base of the bowl, where it was trapped and VERY hard to clean out. A few spots of smelly mold and mildew remained in the base with a snotty looking residue after my previous washings.
I had to pull apart the top of the bowl from the bottom, scrub the isolated compartment with a soapy bottle brush, rinse, and squeeze the waterer back together. The base will not tolerate many of these brute force openings for a cleanout before the fasteners give way and I’m out the price of the Le Bistro plus needing a new bowl.
The problem didn’t show up until after Tractor Supply’s 30 day return window, and I was directed to Petmate, the manufacturer. The first item on the Petmate return policy statement is: After 30 days from the original date of purchase, all sales are final.
This is not a problem solved by replacement bowl. It’s a design problem that traps water in the base and promotes mold and mildew unseen.

DOES NOT HOLD WATER
When filled and set on a level surface, the water will run over the lip of the bowl and onto the floor. I will be returning it to the store, as it is of no use to me.

Does NOT work well
The water completely fills the bowl to the brim, almost emptying the gallon jug attachment. It IS the water dispenser and not the food dispenser. The only thing that kept it from overflowing was the equalization of the water. A waste of money.

Overfills the water, makes a mess.
This pet waterer keeps filling until the water is just about to overflow, then stops. This results in water everywhere because when the cat goes to drink from it, the water overflows and spills all over the food/water mat. I don’t know how this design got signed off on or made it through product R&D. It’s a complete waste of money. I went back to using a stainless steel bowl, that works just fine. I should’ve read the reviews beforehand.
No, I do not recommend this product.
