Q: Used 56502A on my covered porch. Do I need to strip the old degraded coat off to apply a new coat. The directions are super vague. Also, could you improve the labelling on the can to make it easier to find what I need the first time?

- A: Hello, I would recommend doing a water test before applying any stain on top. Drop some water on the porch and see if it absorbs into the wood. If it does, then you can apply another coat. If it sits on top, then the deck is not ready for a new coat yet. I would still recommend using a deck cleaner and sanding before applying a new coat.2 years ago

I am so happy I came across this Olympic Maximum Stain & Sealant in One Toner. We have a bridge at the back of our house that needed stained badly. Well, I have to say I was totally impressed. 1 coat is all it needed, and the color is amazing. I am happy knowing my bridge is now protected once again and looks great too. My fiancé built me a raised bed that needed a touch on the prior paint job. It was starting to fade due to the sun, rain and snow we get here up north. I had been so upset with the look of my deck the past few years. When I came across Olympic Max Stain and Sealant, I knew the time had come. I set out to tackle the deck myself and figured if I messed up, I'd call someone in to fix my mess. I cleaned the deck first and then applied the Stain. It went on smoothly and easily. It did take two coats to get it to where I liked it but the end results is beautiful. It really looks like a brand new deck. It has water protection so water beads up on the deck but this is great as my wood is protected against rot. Honestly, it is fun to use the blower to blow the water drops off the deck. I really enjoy products that are easy for anyone to use. The redwood color came looks beautiful and not like in the past when I've used a similar product from a different brand that turned my deck red! I highly recommend this product, I am extremely happy with the results and plan to spend lots of time recuperating on my lovely stained deck! Thank you Olympus, you have a winner here!

This Stain is the Greatest

It took me awhile to write this review because I was waiting for the right job.
I did a pool deck that was 2 years old and never been treated or stained.
The Olympic Stain was great it made the deck look like new again.
The cracks and check marks disappeared and the deck looks like new again.
The stain flowed nice and as long as I kept a wet edge there were no lap marks on the floor of the deck.Prep was very easy as all I had to do was some light sanding at the check marks and edges.
This is a great stain to use on new material or treated lumber that never had been treated.

This Olympic MAXIMUM® Stain + Sealant in One Toner is pretty decent. It covers moderately well with two coats and looks smooth and even. The durability could be a bit better, but it is about on par with most similar products.

We were looking for a stain to fix up the porch on the house we just bought, and came across this color. The porch had not had any attention in five years. If you see the Before and After pics, you can really tell the difference the Olympic Honey Gold stain and sealant made. It makes the wood glow. One gallon was enough to do the 13x13 ft porch floor, and the six steps down to the patio. It goes on easily and spreads smoothly. It takes a couple days to really set in, and the smell lingers, but it's gorgeous when it's done.

I used this on outdoor wooden furniture. It was easy to apply with a sprayer and went on smoothly. It provided good, even coverage and took about 2 coats to get the right color. Its a nice, lighter toned cedar color. I feel confident that this will provide protection from the elements and rain for years to come! Great product

My deck needed a good restaining. It was looking withered and old. I received a gallon of Olympic Maximum stain + sealant in one toner at the perfect time! I chose redwood. Olympic stain was so easy to apply. I used a small roller and applied a decent amount to my first stair and rolled. It went on evenly and absorbed right in. Olympic stain dries fairly quickly, we were able to walk on it in less than 24 hours. Total transformation on my deck stairs. They look brand new! Once this rainy patch in my area has ended, I will finish the whole deck!

I trust Olympic for a reason

I've used various stain/sealants on my cedar fence for 20 years now. I've found you get what you pay for. In trying out this Olympic Maximum on a replacement board, I was super pleased with the deep cedar color that still shows the grain and knots. It has the consistency of alcohol and the wood quickly absorbs it. I recommend staining the edges and top of the fence boards as well as the faces. Based on my past experiences with Olympic stains, I can say if it says it offers 4 years of protection, you'll get 4 good years out of the stain. When restaining and resealing fence after that amount of time, make sure you wash the wood first, preferably with a powerwasher. This can came with a plastic shipping ring that sealed the top from opening. I must have lost the instructions on how to remove it but I was able to cut it off easily with a razor scraper blade. I haven't done my fence yet so I can't speak to coverage but in the photos you can see I barely used any to complete one 6' x 6" cedar plank. Highly recommended!

YOU GET THE MAXIMUM FINISH FOR MINIMUM EFFORT!

I used Olympic Maximum Stain + Sealant to re-finish our front-porch bench that had faded and looked weary.
Removing the old manufacturer finish was easy as there wasn't much left of it and it sanded away with precision grade sandpaper.
Once that was done, I simply wiped down the bench with mineral spirits and allowed it to dry for a few minutes.
Olympic Maximum is a petroleum based stain and sealant combined and requires only a single coat. WIN!
The product went down smoothly and easily with a good quality brush. Coverage rate is excellent as well.
I chose the transparent version in "Cedar Naturaltone" as it closely resembled the original finish on the wood.
It took no time to finish coating the bench and I could not be more pleased with the result! The wood looks bright and gleaming again with a gorgeous natural-looking blonde tone. Really shows up beautifully on the front entrance.
Olympic Maximum gave this amateur a very "pro" looking finish with very little work. I recommend this product with no reservation!

Im very please with Olympic Maximum. We are doing a two toned deck, and our fence surrounding our patio. After powerwashing the faded old rails to return them to a newer look, we coated them with Olympic Maxium Stain. Im so impressed. In the picture you can see the rails (which are completed) next to the gate that wasnt power washed yet. This is a must use product Im so pleased with the outcome. Its easy to use, and dries fairly quickly.

Product covered evenly. Keeping it stirred is a must. Color was what I expected. I applied two coats with the second coat applied while the product was still wet. I wanted to avoid it getting like a varnish which may happen if the first coat is completely dry.

This was super simple to apply. The last time i sealed a deck it was far too thick almost molassas like texture and it just looked well..bad. very bad. This on the other hand was a dream to use. Was the perfect texture spread easily and dried relatively quickly. It looks SO much better!

I used the Natural Redwood stain and I was thrilled. The building, inside and out is redwood from almost 60 years ago and I've used a number of products. I liked that Olympic Stain and Sealant didn't have a lot of solids but instead enhanced the real color of the redwood. It's my hope that the support columns will illustrate this: The lower portion has Olympic stain used over the previous well worn stain..it brought out the darker colors of a real redwood, the natural grain. Although it is 'indoors' it is subject to an onslaught of pool chemicals, water and at times mildew. I happen to have loved applying this, the great absorbency into the wood, and the lovely look it gave to my redwood... Thanks.

My small outdoor light colored wood patio table had really became faded and needed a fresh coat of stain. I chose the Olympic Maximum Stain +Sealant in Transparent Cedar Naturaltone, because I wanted a color that had a somewhat reddish undertone to it, without being darkish red. The stain is quite thin, but did absorbed into the wood quickly without running or dripping. I did apply 3 coats to get my desired color. Would recommend.

I am happy with the Olympic Maximum Stain & Sealant In One Toner that I used on my deck. It was easy to apply with a brush and roller. It gave a beautiful natural color to the wood, but also protected. The product features that I liked include: protects and beautifies in one step (saving time and money), UV defense (limited fading and cracking), and wear and tear resistance. I am hopeful that the mildew-resistant coating stops mold and algae growth.
I applied to damp wood in relatively hot temperatures. I didn't have to worry about the forecast. I would recommend to anyone looking for a quality, but cost-effective stain and sealant for their outdoor wood projects.

So this was my first time working with an all in one stain with sealant and boy I like it! I was skeptical at first thinking it was not going to look good because it was so liquidity but I was so wrong. It applied well and it looks great. I love all the benefits especially that it provides a mildew resistant coating. Clean up is easy. The only thing is that it has a very strong chemical smell but overall I am happy.

EASY TO USE - GREAT COVERAGE

This stain and sealer was very easy to use and provided great coverage. The final look was just what we were looking for in a stain. This product has the added benefit of being a sealant as well. We used this on the deck of our grandchildren's playhouse. They love it.

I love our Olympic Maximum Stain And Sealant. It goes on smooth and looks so good when its dry. It makes the deck look soo good and shiny. I love that itseals it in. We've had several people compliment how good it looks. We have recommended it to friends and family.
