Feed to tortoise, along with plenty of fresh clean water. Tortoises will generally consume 1-4% of body weight per day, although food intake will vary due to environmental temperature, activity, and life stage. Provide a good quality forage such as grass or hay or browse. Fresh fruits and vegetables may be provided, but at no more than 20% of the total diet. Soaking the diet is not necessary but may help to acclimate tortoises to the diet.
