Your perfect kayaking adventure never has to be out of reach. You can enjoy the ideal day on the water even with limited storage or cargo space using the innovative Lifetime Lockport Modular Kayak. This kayak completely separates into two parts which can be nested, stacked, or stored separately to make the best use of your space, but looks, feels, and performs just like a single-piece kayak. When you're ready to set off, simply reconnect the halves using the SlideLock attachment system, which is robust, secure, and impossibly easy to use. This modular kayak design offers compact storage and transport without sacrificing the features of a full-size, single-piece kayak. When assembled, the Lockport boasts sturdiness, stability, and durability superior to other portable kayaks including inflatables. Enjoy the reliability of a weather and impact-resistant high-density polyethylene finish, which is both lightweight and strong. Take advantage of a suite of features to simplify and amplify your paddling experience: a storage tankwell with bungee lacing and a water bottle holder secure your gear, along with two flush-mounted rod holders. Customize your comfort with an adjustable backrest and multiple footrest positions, and enjoy easy transport with a center carry handle in each segment as well as front and rear T-handles. Paddle keepers let you free your hands without losing your paddle and scupper holes drain away water, keeping the deck dry. We couldn't figure out how to take our kayaks AND pull our trailer. These kayaks fit in the back of our truck bed. They are fairly easy to put together and feel safe on the water. We are very pleased with our purchase of two kayaks.

So easy to put together!

Took the Lockport kayak out for its virgin run yesterday. It went together so easy. I watched videos of lining it up per instructions, then turning it on its side to push together. Worked great. I am a 5 foot tall senior citizen who easily maneuvered the two pieces of the kayak to my car and water. My only complaint is there is no padded seat, so I had to buy a gel seat for comfort. The paddles that came with it are functional, but not as solid as my Quest ones. When I sold my Pelican kayak, I kept my Quest paddles and gave the new ones to the person who purchased my one piece kayak. This two piece fits so easy in the back of my small suv without any issues. Highly recommend this kayak.

Perfect for Me!

Wanted a kayak that was quicker to launch than the inflatable but needed it to fit in the bed of my Ridgeline without sticking out. This fits perfectly along with my bike, SUPs, tent and other items. It maneuvers as well as any similar ones I have used. I even towed someone on an inflatable in a black creek easily. I'm almost 60, not very big or strong, and am able to easily load it. The handles could be better but still a 5 star find for me. I'm considering another so I can bring friends! Doesn't take too much garage space either.

nice modular kayak

I bought this kayak two weeks ago. It is easy to store and carry around. Can be put two segments together and separate very fast. The only thing I need to complain is the center carry handle. The handle is too narrow and bites fingers when I carry the segments around. In addtion, the quality of slidelock need to improve, the lock is not strong and halfway slides back when peddling.

LOVE THIS KAYAK

Love this kayak. I'm too old to load a kayak on the top of my car and this thing fits in the back of my car easily. I can easily get to the lake and be up and running on the water within 5 minutes. I find it to be stable and tracking is fine. I no longer have to deal with inflatables that leak and are a 20 minute workout just to get in the water. Thank you Lifetime for making simple product that does not have all the bells and whistles and extra stuff on other modular fishing kayaks that I don't need because I don't fish. I've already received the second one I purchased and will be registering that one shortly

Beautiful kayak and good value, but does not track straight

The kayak itself is awesome. To be able to put it in my car and not take my trailer is amazing. It's built just like my old lifetime kayaks that I've had for years with no problems, even though they get pretty beat up. However, this one is constantly veering mainly to the right, but will go either direction, the second I stop paddling. Does not track straight whatsoever, I almost turn completely to the opposite direction. I've tried to find out if there is a reason for this anywhere on the bottom and find nothing. My six+ year old kayaks go perfectly straight when not paddling. So I am a little disappointed as I have to constantly correct with extra paddling. Putting the two pieces together takes a little practice but is easy and I love the red color, so just disappointed about the lack of tracking straight.

Lockport 96

I bought this Kayak for ease of transport, took it out the same day in a River Float with a large group and I am very pleased with the results of how well it handled and the fact that a two piece kayak actually works and doesn’t allow water into the crease where the pieces connect! Very stable, I never once felt as though I was going to tip over when moving around on the kayak. I am not real impressed with how far away the front storage is as far as that is concerned, being a 5’3” gal I it a stretch and if you wanted to keep a bag attached and closer to you then you have the water drain holes that make sure everything is soaked. This is the first Kayak that I had been soaking wet on a trip from Kayak so I’m definitely looking for compatible accessories for it! I have also searched a few sites to see if there are any accessories to purchase as far as additional cup holders and or seat options and I hadn’t seen anything. I’m sure maybe I just haven’t looked enough???? Although, I definitely will have to come up with some new ideas on what I bring on board next trip. We usually do 2,3 or more hours per float and that means food, drinks, ice, cooler which is quite a bit in itself not to mention when you’re on the water and it’s getting evenings and you must bring extra supplies and clothes etc…. Overall, the kayak is very comfortable and easy to manage in the water!

Perfect transportable basic sit on top kayak!

Received my first Lockport last week and I've been out on the water twice. I love being able to transport it in my car, as getting a full size kayak on the roof of my car is just no longer practical. I also love being able to ditch the inflatables. The Lockport performed great on the water even in a mild 13 mph wind. I just ordered my second one so my girlfriend and I can paddle togethe. I had been looking at other modular brands that were fishing kayaks with pedal drives and a whole bunch of accessories I didn't need. The Lockport is a perfect basic sit on top kayak that meets all my needs. Thank you Lifetime products

Mostly Pros, a Few Cons

Pros: Assembles and comes apart much easier than my Point 65 Tequila model modular kayak. I usually go kayaking on calm rivers, but I took my first outing with this kayak on a smooth, calm lake and it tracks very well. Quite stable, even with waves from motorized boats. No bottom seat cushion, but the adjustable back support was comfortable. Cons: The center carry-handles are uncomfortable on my fingers. I wish the front and rear tankwell storage areas were a little deeper. Same with the bottle holder. Note: There are two scupper holes in the seat, so there's a chance your bottom will get wet. I used scupper plugs and they stayed in place, so I stayed nice and dry. Also, it seems a little sluggish on the lake, but I expect it will move better and with less effort on a river with at least a little bit of current.

Super portable, stable kayak

I have been patiently waiting for a portable solution to stay ready to go fishing on a moment's notice without having my kayak sticking out from my truck bed exposed. The Lockport fits perfectly in my 13 F150 short bed with the tailgate up and my bed cover closed. I can work all day and stop to fish on my way home without loading anything and assembling both pieces very easily! Being able to carry the pieces from the middle instead of the ends is an absolute game changer and makes me not dread the trouble of launching and loading by myself as much which puts me on the water more often. I am slightly under the weight limit and 6 ft 2 inches and I still have plenty of foot room. This kayak tracks predictably for a kayak of this size and is very stable. Being on the kayak, you would never know that it could break down into two pieces. Selfishly, I would love it to be a little more tailored to fishermen with some storage options similar to the tamarack although I understand it wasn't possible due to the carrying handles being in the place where I had storage on my tamarack model. Maybe lifetime will release a fishing edition one day with subdued colors and fishing features one day. Right now, it is a blank slate that I can customize to make it perfect for me. Overall, it has given me the opportunity to get out on the water so much more than before and enjoy nature. I couldn't imagine going back to only having a traditional one-piece Kayak. Thanks Lifetime!

Great new design!

I recently received the new Lockport kayak from Lifetime Products. With a length of 112”, 30” width and weight capacity of 250 lbs this kayak fits my requirement for the perfect all around size. The clear and obvious reason for wanting the new LockPort kayak is the modular design. The kayak’s unique ability to separate into two individual segments offers multiple benefits, although I did have some concerns which made me anxious to get on the water and test it out. The connection: Although connecting and disconnecting the kayak is simple to accomplish, do not assume you know the correct procedure. You can fumble along and guess like I did or you can break down and read the instructions. When performed correctly, the SlideLock procedure to connect and separate the two sections is very simple and extremely strong. Although easier to perform on solid ground, I was able to accomplish the task in the water as well. Transporting: My number one reason for wanting this kayak was ease of transporting to the water, using different vehicles and not requiring the purchase of a roof rack or bed extension. The modular design of the Lockport allowed the kayak to fit in the bed of my truck in multiple configurations as well as the back of our car. By far my favorite is the two halves pushed together resting on their sides, placed horizontally against the back of the truck cab. This configuration leaves plenty of space in the truck bed for camping gear or I could easily fit 3 to 4 kayaks and still close the tailgate. Storage: I was very pleased to see the two individual sections are stable enough to stand up on their own and take up a minimal amount of space when storing on the ground. The Lockport can also remain connected and mounted on a rack or lifted to the ceiling with our pulley system for long term storage. Portability: Each section of the kayak has a mounted carry handle which allowed me to carry both sections down to the water at the same time. The location of the handles isn’t exactly balanced creating some challenge but nothing concerning. I did like that the location of the handles lifts the kayak higher off the ground while carrying. Performance: The kayak handled just as well as the many other Lifetime kayaks we have owned over the years. Even with the seam line running perpendicular to the hull of the kayak, I could not have been more pleased with the capability of its tracking and stability. Although I was concerned with the location of the seam connecting the two sections, the extremely secure and tight fit did not allow any water to pass through. Features: The kayak comes with many of the standard features you would expect from Lifetime kayaks. The adjustable seat back is more than comfortable enough for a day on the water. T-handles at each end come in handy when carrying the kayak with the two segments connected. The tank well with bungee straps is big enough for any extra gear, or lunch you may want to take with you. My favorite feature would be the paddle keeper, providing safe storage of the paddle while on water allowing the use of both hands. The LockPort kayak accomplishes exactly what I was hoping it would. I am extremely pleased and could not be happier with the functionality and utility of this kayak. My only concern is durability of the SlideLock mechanism over time, although at this point I see no reason for any concern. I own several models of kayaks but with its strong connection, storage options, portability and performance on the water, the LockPort is easily my go to favorite for a fun day on the water with family.

A Versatile and Top Notch Kayak!

An absolutely versatile and top notch kayak. Transporting kayaks can be viewed as cumbersome to some but not with this kayak, as you have the ability to take it apart to transport and put it together once you get to your destination, which is a huge game changer in the kayak world. The design is absolutely phenomenal. Taking apart and putting the kayak together is a breeze and extremely easy to do, with sliding the two pieces together, aligning them properly, and locking the latches in place, taking seconds to do. With the ability to break this kayak down into two halves, it is absolutely one of my favorite features, as it makes transporting it painless. There are center carry handles on both lightweight halves, which make carrying the kayak halves effortless. Also, with the kayak being able to be taken apart in two halves, it makes storing the kayak carefree. The bungees on both ends of the kayak provide ample secure storage for your belongings while you are out on the water. The construction of the kayak is very heavy duty and well built, making you have full confidence while maneuvering on the water. The kayak glides through the water with ease, providing a nice straight line and smoothness atop the water. Overall, a fantastic kayak that combines versatility for transportation and well built construction for usability in the water.

Great 2 piece sit on kayak

Favorite features: To part construction. Easy to assemble Lightweight my nephew’s nieces and wife can easily carry it. Fits in the back of a pick up truck or an SUV. Moved it down to the pond on the back of a four wheeler. I am 6 foot 220 pounds. It was very stable. Cuts through the water very nicely very smoothly. Easy to paddle easy to maneuver. Removable seat if two of my nephews want to go on it or use it to swim, jump off of and have fun. The seat is very nice for Fishing to have a back rest or for general paddling exploring and exercise. Rod holders are convenient for Fishing. Front and rear storage areas are convenient for a backpack, tackle-box water jug, snacks, towel ect.. I could see people that live in an apartment taking advantage of this kayak, not having to leave it outside in the weather and where someone could potentially steal it. It is easy to store out of the way in a shed garage, a house or apartment. When I sat on the kayak water came up through the scupper holes in the seat area and soaked my pants. I could put scupper plugs in to stop that from happening. I am obviously close to meeting the weight limit as a 56 year old guy that is 6 foot 220 pounds. With the weather, unfortunately I was in boots jeans and a jacket. I do not like the so-called handles squares, black squares in the middle. They are not user-friendly for my hands or my wife’s hands. Think it would be better to put a grab handle on the side of each piece like I have on my Manta that is a nylon strap with a rubber handle. I found myself consistently wanting to grab the side of it to pick it up. Overall, I think it is a great multipurpose kayak that is easy to haul easy to store. It is great quality has good stability tracks and moves through the water, smoothly and quickly. I see My Wife using it to go along on Fishing trips with me to read a book or just be in the sun. I see my nephews and niece is using it to fish. Have fun explore the pond explore the lake and be a great introductory kayak for them to Advance to a bigger kayak when they get older. Greg Parsenow

Excellent on storage and quickly getting on the water!

[This review is being completed through partnership with Lifetime in exchange for product reviewed] As the saying goes, the best kayak is the one that gets you on the water. This Lifetime Lockport does just that! It excels as an easy to manage kayak, making good on functionality for storage and quick assembly to get on the water. Starting with the modular design, it stands upright as two pieces without needing support. With a limited garage space, this is huge for me. The modular design also means it can fit completely in my truck bed, under the bed cover, with tailgate closed, and I still have room for my gear! The lightweight two piece design means getting it to the water is a breeze, and assembly is even easier with the sliding locks. Once on the water (within minutes of arriving) I was pleasantly surprised at how well the Lockport tracks and felt stable on the water, even in the Oklahoma wind. The length also made it very easy to get maneuver around tight spaces on the tree lined lake I was on. Overall, this is a great option for anyone looking for an entry level kayak or wanting to have a nice kayak while still saving on space!

My experience with the lifetime Modular Kayak

Hello, I got the pleasure of testing out the new Lifetime Locport modular kayak. Here were my thoughts: Once you get the hang of it, it is very easy to assemble and disassemble. All you have to do is slide the two pieces of the kayak into place then lock the hinges. Paddling: coming from paddling many different kayaks I will say this kayak paddles pretty well for a 9ft kayak. The longer the kayak is the better it will track and the faster you will glide but for a 9ft kayak it tracks well. Weight capacity: It has a 250 pound weight Capacity so for a guy who is 220 pounds like myself I was a bit on the heavier side for this kayak which just means it was a wetter ride for me . If you are around my weight I would recommend not taking a lot of gear with to avoid getting over capacity. Someone in the 180 pound range & under would be an excellent if you wanted to take multiple rods & a lot of tackle with you . Storage: This kayak is super convenient when it comes to storing it. The kayak can come into two pieces and fit in the back of the suv. For me I will be using it primarily when towing my camper as this solves a real problem for not being able to take both the kayaks & camper with me without having to rooftop the kayak. Weight wise: this kayak quite easy to carry around, especially when in two pieces. My overall opinion: I think this kayak would be great for using on smaller lakes & ponds. The kayak is really good for someone who is looking to kayak without having to rooftop. Just toss it in the back of the SUV & go. My wishes for the kayak: The two things I wish the kayak had was better carrying handles on the side of boat as it’s hard to grip on when carrying the kayak fully together in one piece in and out of water. Cushioned seat: I wish there was a cushion under the seat for a little bit more support, online you can get a stick on seat cushion and I highly recommend it for a slightly more comfortable day out on the water. Other then that, I thank lifetime for giving me this opportunity to try the kayak out and I hope my review helps you decide. Hoping to see lifetime make a bigger version in the future and continue on this journey of making kayaking more accessible to all!!!

Good product with room for improvement

I was lucky enough to be chosen by Lifetime to demo the new Lockport model kayak and offer honest feedback on the kayak itself. The thing I really like about the kayak is the modular design which allows the kayak to be broken down into two different pieces for ease of transport and carrying. I was able to fit the kayak into the standard size bed (6.5’) of my Silverado with room to spare and close my bed cover. This is a huge advantage over the other kayaks that I own as I can transport the kayak and other gear securely without having to strap anything down. I was also able to fit the kayak into my wife’s Traverse with the third row seats folded down. The two halves of the kayak are just shy of 5’ long each and are lightweight. The assembly/disassembly process is very simple and straightforward. They simply slide together and lock into place. Easily done by one person. Only complaint I have with this is the quality of the sliding locks that lock the two halves into place. To be blunt, they are cheap and I am worried about the longevity of them. I was very cautious while loading and carrying the halves to not put the locks in a position where they could get broken. There is also a little bit of side-to-side play where the slide locks go into the receiver which can allow the two halves to offset by about 1/8”. I could see where this could create a little drag although I personally didn’t notice that being an issue. When I tested the kayak, I was impressed with the maneuverability. I was able to easily do figure-8 turns on the water as the kayak is pretty reactive to turning. I also did a semi-speed test where I paddled across the lake as hard as I could to see how easy the kayak paddled and its ability to track I a straight line. The kayak has a shallower V in the hull so it doesn’t necessarily cut through the water but did decent and maintained a straight path as I paddled. The Lockport isn’t overly wide but had decent stability. Not sure I would stand up in it, but felt comfortable enough turning around in the seat and bending over the side. In my research of other models of modular kayaks, one of the most common complaints I noticed is of flexion at the seam between the two sections. I never noticed any flexion with the Lockport but did have a little bit of water come up through the seam during the hard paddle test. The kayak does sit low in the water. The Lockport has a listed weight rating of 250lbs and I am currently 210lbs so I thought it would ride a little higher. This lends itself to one of my only complaints with the performance of the Lockport is that Lifetime put scupper holes directly in the seat bottom. Because it sat low in the water, this resulted in me getting a wet bottom with water coming up through the scupper holes. Not the end of the world on a warm day but an inconvenience. Also the chair that comes with the kayak is not overly comfortable. The seat back is not padded and did wear on my back after about an hour. Also the clips for the seat back attach to the inside of the seat bottom which rubbed on the outside of my legs which was somewhat uncomfortable. Overall, I like the Lockport. I definitely think it has its place for people like me who are looking for an easy transport option to just spend a little time in an afternoon in the outdoors or for those with a private body of water who are looking to save on storage space. It’s not necessarily a kayak that I would expect a die-hard kayaker to use on long trips but would say it’s a solid option for a day-to-day hobbyist. Pros: - The modular design and being lightweight make it very easy to transport - Tracks pretty well and is very maneuverable in tight spots. - Hull is durable and well built Cons: - The locking mechanism is cheap plastic and has play in the receiving slot. Have concerns about the longevity of the slide locks. - The standard seat is uncomfortable. Back is not padded, clips attach in the seat bottom which rub on the outside of my legs.

Awesome Kayak!

My family and I recently tested the new Lockport kayak from Lifetime, and overall, it's a really cool product. It feels and functions very similarly to other Lifetime kayaks, but what really sets it apart is the modular design. Because it separates into two pieces, the Lockport is much easier to transport. We were able to fit both pieces into the cargo area of our smaller crossover SUV by folding down only one seat, and I was able to carry both sections by myself. Also, the assembly process is both fast and simple. One feature I feel needs some improvement is the handles. Each piece features a black, double-sided square handle in the center. I found them to be somewhat uncomfortable, as they tended to dig into my fingers while carrying the pieces. I should also note that the Lockport kayak does not come with a paddle, it must be bought separately. Big thanks to Lifetime for sending us the Lockport kayak and giving us the opportunity to review it! Emily and Jackson Armstrong

The Lifetime Lockport kayak has some really great features, especially its ability to split into two pieces. That aspect makes transport much easier, allowing you to fit it inside your vehicle instead of struggling to lift a heavy kayak up onto the roof of your car or SUV. On the water, the Lockport performs very well. The stability is excellent and it tracked nicely as I was paddling in the water against strong winds. I did find a few downsides to the Lockport: The seat isn’t very comfortable and tends to come unhooked easily. Assembling the kayak was quite difficult, I used the base of my palms. I’d strongly recommend bringing a rubber mallet, as I ended up with pretty bruised hands trying to get the pieces together. In my opinion, it would help the owner/user of the Lockport if it had side handles to make transport easier and to help assembly and disassembly.
