Q: Will this unit safely operate on a 15A circuit?

  • A: Hello, thanks for checking whether the LW8017ERSM 8,000 BTU window air conditioner can safely run on a 15A circuit, and we understand how important it is to make sure your setup is safe and compatible with your home’s wiring. Yes — this unit is designed to operate safely on a standard 115V / 15A household circuit. LG builds these window units to be energy‑efficient and compatible with typical residential outlets, so you won’t need any special wiring. A quick step that helps is making sure the AC is on its own dedicated circuit if possible, since running multiple high‑draw devices on the same line can cause tripping. Here’s your model link for full guidance: https://www.lg.com/us/air-conditioners/lg-lw8017ersm-window-air-conditioner If you need further assistance, feel free to email lgdigitalcare@lg.sprinklrsupport.com. ‑Rich

Q: i have window bars that are 8.5/9 inches away from the actual window. is this too deep to fit?

Originally posted on lg.com

  • A: Hello. Thank you for your inquiry regarding the physical depth clearance and compatibility of your LG Window Air Conditioner, model LW8017ERSM, with exterior window bars. The overall physical product depth of this air conditioner from the front control panel to the rear grille is 19.38 inches. When installed standardly within a window frame, approximately 5 inches of the unit chassis sits inside the room, which leaves about 14.38 inches of the cabinet extending outside beyond the exterior window sill. Because the exterior extension depth of 14.38 inches is greater than your window bar clearance of 8.5 to 9 inches, this unit is too deep to safely fit without hitting the bars. Please send us an email at lgdigitalcare@lg.sprinklrsupport.com if you need further assistance on your inquiry or if you have further questions. ^James

Q: Where is the leaver damper on this model to draw outside air? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

  • A: Hi Jared, thanks for checking in about the outside‑air lever damper on your LG LW8017ERSM. We understand you’re trying to locate the feature that brings in fresh air from outdoors. This model does not include a manual lever damper for drawing outside air. The unit recirculates indoor air, and the only airflow adjustments available are the horizontal and vertical louvers on the front panel. A quick step you can try: • Adjust the horizontal and vertical louvers to direct airflow where you need it, since this model doesn’t pull in outside air. For full guidance, here’s the official manual link: • https://www.lg.com/us/support/product/lg-LW8017ERSM.AT1AUSH?tab=1 If you need further assistance, feel free to email lgdigitalcare@lg.sprinklrsupport.com. ‑LG Digital Care Team ^Rich

Q: Why when temp setting on air conditioner is 68 and room temp is 72 does Air conditioner shut off.

Originally posted on lg.com

1 Answer
  • A: Hey Robert. We can help you turn off your LG A/C before reaching the set temperature. There are two reasons why the A/C will turn off before reaching the set temperature. If the air filter is dirty, it can restrict airflow, causing the A/C to turn off. Clean the air filter to ensure proper filter. The room is too big for the A/C to cool. This LG A/C cools up to 340 square feet. If the room is bigger, the A/C will want to continue cooling but will shut off after not reaching the set temperature. If this persists, private message us on social media @LGUSSupport with your contact details. We'll be happy to continue finding a solution. ^David

Q: Hello I was wondering if the LG ac model number LW8017ERSM can be used as a wall ac unit or is it strictly for windows

  • A: Hello, Kvink2 The LG 8,000 BTU Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW8017ERSM, is strictly for windows. It requires a standard single-hung or double hung window for proper installation. The side and top louvers cannot be covered or obstructed. All side louvers of the cabinet must remain exposed to the outside of the structure and unobstructed. Non-window installations, including using sleeves or wall openings and other installation methods, are not recommended...^Ivan.

A good AC window unit but not for big rooms.

This AC window unit was given to me. I like it except that sometimes when it seems hot enough inside the room it's in it doesn't always come on unless I reduce the temperature on it. I like how easy it is to clean the filter and the fact that the unit reminds me to clean it after so many hours of operation. Compared to my last AC window unit it's doing a better job.

Started out ok

I did alot or research and thought I was getting a highly rated product. The product worked fine for 2 summers, then when I brought it out for the 3rd it was extremely loud and the noise increases when I turn up the fan. upon further investigating there was a high amount of rust inside the unit. I took it apart and found that the motors drive shaft is causing the noise and needs the bearings re-greased but The motor can not come appart. I could buy a new one but its over half the price of a new ac, I now just have a large paper weight. I guess when someone does an evaluation they dont really take into account the longevity of a product.
