The UL certification details are listed on the product’s specification label, which is located on the side of the air conditioner cabinet. Q: I have a customer trying to use this as the cooling unit for a walk-in cooler. It will be installed inside the commercial building and in the side of the cooler. I don't see a UL number for this unit. Is that an acceptable installation for this unit?

  • A: Hi Kelsey, we appreciate you reaching out about the LW1824RD. We understand you want to confirm whether this window air conditioner can be used as the cooling system for a walk‑in cooler and whether that installation is acceptable. This model is engineered specifically for standard residential window installation, where the back of the unit must vent heat directly outdoors. Because of that design, it isn’t supported for use inside a commercial building or as a refrigeration unit for a walk‑in cooler, and it does not carry a UL rating for that type of application. You can review the full product details here: https://www.lg.com/us/air-conditioners/lg-lw1824rd-window-air-conditioner If you need further assistance, feel free to email lgdigitalcare@lg.sprinklrsupport.com. ‑LG Digital Care Team ^Rich

Q: What differentiates a window air conditioner from a wall air conditioner? It would seem that as long as the side vents are not blocked, a window air conditioner could be installed in a wall.

  • A: Hey there Dave! Window and wall air conditioners differ primarily in their installation requirements and design. While it may seem that a window air conditioner could be installed in a wall as long as the side vents are not blocked, it's important to note that wall air conditioners are specifically designed for through-the-wall installation and have different venting and support requirements. Window air conditioners are designed to fit in standard windows and have a chassis for easy installation and removal. On the other hand, wall air conditioners are designed to be permanently installed through a wall, typically requiring a wall sleeve for support and proper ventilation. ^Anthony

Q: I also saw a second wire within the housing unit. It did start by only plugging in the larger one, but the consistent questions do raise a concern. Also the instructions were poor We have purchased other LG products with no issues. Questioning this one.

  • A: Hey there! The LG LW1824RD window air conditioner is all set to go with a standard 240V, 3-wire grounding receptacle. You just need a 15A time delay fuse or a 15A circuit breaker, and you're good to enjoy cool air. Plus, the power cord has shields to keep an eye on leakage current. Make sure to give the cord a regular check for any damage and you're all set for worry-free cooling! ~ Jupe

Big A/C unit with lots of cooling power!

I love my new 12,000 btu LG air conditioner. The install was quite simple if your windows are perfectly square, but mine are not. You must pull the center of the unit out first and install the outer frame first. It was quite challenging to put the faceplate on the unit at the end and get it to stay attached correctly. I was able to fix the situation. Overall the directions are simple and easy to follow overall. This unit sits in the window very sturdy so no worries of it falling out randomly. Other than that is has been amazing. The air quality is great. This Lg A/C cools my whole downstairs level fast and efficiently. It can handle 1000 square feet no problem. I can keep my living room, bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, and dining room at a nice and cool temperature all day long. I love when my house is cold during the summer and this will definitely get the job done. Its very quiet and runs smooth. I barely can tell it’s running. It also comes with a simple and easy to use remote. This is a big window unit so make sure it will fit before purchasing. LG is usually really good with the energy consumption but we will see in the future. Overall a great A/C unit to have, especially for big areas. I will definitely be comfortable and cool all summer long..

Great AC for a 400sq ft sunroom

I recently installed the LG 450 sq ft window air conditioner in my 400 sq ft sunroom, and I’m very happy with the results. It cools the space incredibly fast—even on the hottest days, it makes the room comfortable in no time. Installation and removal are both straightforward, which makes it convenient for seasonal use. One feature I really like is the adjustable airflow direction. Being able to change the wind side helps circulate cool air exactly where I need it. While the unit is a bit on the louder side, the sound doesn’t bother me—it’s a fair trade-off for the strong performance. I also think it doesn’t use too much energy, which is a big plus, especially when running it frequently during heat waves. Overall, this AC has been a great addition. It’s powerful, efficient, easy to use, and makes a real difference on high-temperature days.
