- A: We have an excellent shipping rate for our chicks and we package them safely and appropriately for their journey to their new homes. We are always working to improve timing and shipping to make this even better. Sometimes things can happen in the shipping process that are not favorable. If they are exposed to extremes in temperatures or delayed due to circumstances out of our control there are losses. Sickly chicks

Very sickly chicks. We ordered 10 calico princesses and 10 assorted gem pullets. We lost 4 of the calico and 6 gem so out of 20 chicks lost half of them!! The hatchery did refund us some money but I would have liked replacements since we lost so many and really wanted the gems but now have only 4 left and just lost one this morning that just wasn’t growing. Afraid we are going to loss them all. Have had chickens my whole life and have never had this many die. Such a shame. They obviously are sickly chicks.

Ordered chicks and they all came to me dead. My kids are expecting to come home from school and there be chicks and now I have no chicks

Dirty Birdies Order 2411988521

What i received in the mail were 3 different varieties of lavender chicks. However, some of the chicks were a bit larger and more mobile than the other chicks, which resulted in a chick with an injured leg from being stomped on by the bigger ones during shipment, though none of them seemed sickly at the time. The box they were shipped in was smaller than other boxes in the past, and also had no NPIP certification. Out of the 3 breeds, 1 breed is now completely gone (3/10) due to an illness I could not identify in time, as well as a few other chicks sharing their brooder. After separating the lavender mixes, the deaths stopped with a 50% mortality rate for just the lavender mix. TSC and HH refuse to admit any wrong doing in regards to this shipment, however i have ordered many chicks through this platform before and this is the first time i've ever experienced something like this. Something about where there chicks come from isnt all the way clean, and it had a very negative impact on the survivability of the chicks long term. Something i cant see on them at the time of arrival. Symptoms were extreme lethargy and heavy breathing, as if hot or exhausted, followed by a seizure right before death. by the time you noticed symptoms, they were already done for(Within 3 hours of discovery of lethargy symptoms. They all did not experience it at once, but once they were exposed, there was nothing we could do but give them a peaceful place to lie out and die. What's worse is the mortality extended to other batches of chicks. Had to divide down my brooder set up to quarantine to save my baby flock. Worst chicken purchase ever.

Very Disappointed

I ordered 10 sapphire female chicks. They arrived a month after ordering with no estimated shipping date or updates. Many unanswered emails and phone calls to Hoover's Hatchery. One died, five are Turkens and the other four are not sapphire chicks. Not sure if any are roosters yet but I'm guessing there are a few. Tractor Supply was helpful when I contacted customer service but I will never order chicks from here again.
